  1. Meh. Oversized dudes playing three seconds at a time and running at each other with their heads first, then dying young because of the stress they put their bodies through from the time they were kids. Eagles though. At least I can lord that over people.
  2. The line that came through the DC area during rush hour looked a lot more potent on radar than it actually was. Decent rains, but it looked as though a line of storms was barreling through. Curious to see if we broke 1”, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we did because it was a nice moderate rain for a couple hours.
  3. Yeah...but the GFS always shows a coastal bomb at hour 2304.
  4. Lots of meh in Fairfax County. Looks like the folks northeast of here are...well...cashing in. Even if they don’t really want to.
  5. Next-door neighbors are having issues with water coming into their window wel. Already tearing down a wall, so this next round isn’t going to help them.
  6. Got the pump installed at around noon. Thing is a beast. Bring on the rains!
  7. Once the train gets rolling, it’s hard to slow it down. I definitely feel for the people who have water issues in these situations.
  8. Awful news about the woman who was killed in Burke. Can’t imagine being the husband. Had to reschedule my 10:00 flight because the well is filling up and we now have a plumber on the way to get the new pump installed. Hopefully that’s that and I won’t mind big rain events in the future.
  9. I had a basic plastic gauge until a few years ago, but I left it out in the cold while full and it developed a bunch of cracks. I’m not *quite* weather-geeky/freaky enough to drop the coin for a fancy setup , but I should at least get another basic one!
  10. Wow. Is that why it’s so wet out? Didn’t realize we got so much in such a short time. Leave for a couple days of work in Cincinnati this morning. I’m *not* telling my wife that there was a tornado warning nearby. Need that blob south of here to go somewhere else. New sump pump isn’t in yet...
  11. Anyone else getting a Cobalt vibe from this JWilliams character?
  12. Glad we got basically shut out in Burke today. Aside from about 20 minutes of moderate rain around lunchtime, we’ve only had spotty drizzle a couple times.
  13. No thanks. I’d happily let others “win” in the dumping-rain department...at least until the upgraded sump pump arrives!
  14. I’d be curious to see a map of the area-wide rain amounts. Pretty impressive day for those of us who got under the “good stuff.” MN...our amounts are often pretty close in all kinds of area-wide events. 5” seems a little low just based on the “feel” of how the day progressed here. Not sure if ground truth might be a little higher than station measurements, but the time from about 4:00-7:00 was incredibly impressive nonetheless.
  15. Rain stopped in Burke just in time. Water had started overwhelming our sump pump.
  16. Glad to see the heavy stuff lift to north of Fairfax County. Might be the second-heaviest day of rain I’ve experienced here.
  17. Exactly. You can’t underestimate the crushing some of us got on the 8th. I’ve honestly never experienced rain like what we had that evening. Multiple inches per hour for a few hours straight. Absolutely relentless.
  18. It may have been somewhat spotty, but weather is an IMBY game, and I “won” big-time with Lee. That’s really all I care about.
  19. I see Lee everywhere. He haunts my dreams.
  20. Unfortunately, yes. I’ll let someone else have Lee Mk 2, thankyouverymuch.
