  1. It’s ugly to have a map that just ends as a block at the far reaches of your viewing area. Besides, it can make those areas appear to be unimportant (which they are...let’s be fair ) by being on the edges. If you expand the map to show areas outside the viewing area, by default you include in the heart of the map those at the edge of the viewing area.
  2. I agree with you completely.
  3. But we all know that Ji would still do his best to sh*t all over the sane threads.
  4. In-laws decided to ship their Big Green Egg up here from Hilton Head so that it would finally get some use. Pretty excited to get started with it...this weekend, maybe?
  5. I always had a feeling that Eddie Rabbitt was posting on here from beyond the grave. Now it’s confirmed!
  6. I looked up a term in the dictionary earlier: Self-aggrandizing: DTWxRisk
  7. People can claim that early snow in the general DC-Baltimore area doesn’t mean anything either way in terms of how winter will turn out, but I know I get jittery when it happens (or threatens to happen).
  8. Yup. I couldn’t care less about tracking wet flakes in October or most of November. It’s not worth it. What is worth it is seeing a pattern of coastals running into chilly air, because while it may or may not portend a similar atmospheric setup for when it really counts, I’d much rather have this than hope that a stable, crap-looking pattern flips in our favor.
  9. I'm pretty impressed. I always go with BWI and RIC on or around the same dates, and didn't think we'd get enough of a cool down to get BWI there just yet. Hopefully Richmond can hold off for a couple more weeks. DCA...forget it.
  10. I have no idea if establishment of a pattern is a thing, but let’s establish the pattern anyway.
  11. Predicting fall colors is snake oil.
  12. Hit 35F at the closest PWS in Burke, which is 3° chiller than forecast. That's been happening the last few nights here. Frost on cars, as well.
  13. Rubber band snapped and we flipped like a switch. We idiom.
  14. Totally agreed. A January that comes in at or just below normal would absolutely yield chances assuming there’s moisture around.
  15. I figured Ian eventually left because he became Billy Big Boots and decided to stick to Twatter and take in the adoring fans.
  16. Good thing Sterling doesn’t have to worry about either of the last two scenarios happening.
  17. Weyerbacher Sunday Morning Stout is very coffee-forward and generally available during the winter months. Besides...it’s got some barrel on it, which makes all stouts better. Sunday Molé is another really good one of theirs.
  18. Every year. Every GD year.
  19. The atmosphere around social media (including forums) has deteriorated greatly in the last few years. I agree that a big winter would help things, but that would just be slapping on some (awesome) plaster on those cracks.
  20. Someone must have gotten under his skin. Too bad, since mitch had been part of this crew for ages.
  21. Even when it’s not supposed to rain...it rains. Can we please have this happen (with snow) this winter?
  22. 44F in the closer-in ‘burbs (Burke) last night. It dipped to 46F by about 10:30, but didn’t drop much by morning. Still a really chilly night. This morning was wonderful...just the process of drinking coffee first thing this morning while letting the kids play around the cool house...
