  1. The Attitash situation is crazy to me with the amount of beds and skier visits in the valley. Bwoods is further away and has inferior terrain but takes a lot of their business. Cranmore has invested wisely as well. Attitash should be pulling so many more skier visits but the infrastructure issues are so bad folks drive further to to Bwoods. In some ways you would think if vail would invest anywhere it would be attitash. The NoCo ski market remains huge but bizarrely lacks a flagship resort, Bwoods has really filled that void, but Attitash could take all that business back with some strategic investment ( a bubble six pack summit lift for instance). Both areas desperately need new lodges as well. Wildcat is cold as balls and really just needs to embrace the spring skiing opportunities a la ABasin - but probably will never make money IMHO.
  2. Got the tornado warning on my phone but nothing to note here. Line has already passed through with no wind and barely any precip. The curse of lava lives on. It may never snow here this winter.
  3. clouds keeping things at a cool 78/72 in downtown Bridgton.
  4. watching this latest cell miss me by no more than 2 miles south. It's become a self fulfilling prophecy at this point. it may never rain again here.
  5. the mount washington valley is dealing with an infestation right now. Entire east side of the valley where it's mostly hardwoods on the lower hills (cranmore area) has been denuded. Driving into conway the other day it looked like April. Persistent dry springs and now at least two dry summers is the likely cause. My understanding is that (like browntails), you need a succession of cool wet springs to allow a fungus to control the population.
  6. you can really see this multi-year persistence playing out on peoples lawns. In this part of Maine lawn care is not really a thing, and you can tell. Everyone's got more dirt than grass it seems in my hood. The last time I can remember things looking all pretty was 2017.
  7. the silver lining is that now everyone's yard looks like Lava's
  8. rain fail here. Yards looking like dust bowls, wells going dry, families packing up and moving south
  9. Would be interesting to see what wind anomalies have been for this year so far. I’m on day 4 of very breezy conditions, just seems to never quit. Others have shared data during other “windy” stretches and it’s never been as big a deal as I perceive. It must be some kind of memory bias because I swear the last 5 years have had more wind events in my hood than the previous 5.
  10. Since this is obviously a low-key and unwarranted attack on my comment: I've kept my mouth shut multiple times but you're the most toxic, easily triggered, insecure, thin-skinned poster here. Its crazy how folks like you manage to not only move to our communities in NNE and take up an incredible and outsized amount space in reality but also figure out a way to do it virtually as well. Just go home.....someone else will happily pay the property taxes on your gaudy wannabe Tahoe log cabin. We can only hope they're half the a** you are.
  11. I thought this was a COVID free thread, where are the mods??
  12. explain this sorcery, is it easy to apply?
  13. Ha my stove’s on today, first time in a week or two. SR is reporting 4”.
  14. Here in town it's literally been snowing nonstop since 7 am with just wet globs to show for it. My buddy at 800' in South Bridgton is reporting 5". Curious what it's like at @Lava Rock location.
  15. 12z GFS gets you in on the fun. Unfortunately its the 12z GFS.
  16. Saddleback reporting 5" -- nice surprise pow day for the 3 people who are there I bet!
  17. Not showing up on radar but light snow in rangeley. Half inch of fluff overnight in town, Saddleback is claiming 3”. Wintery appeal is back for now.
  18. In rangeley today, flipped to snow for a while about an hour ago. Back to drizzle now.
  19. nice t-storm just rolled through here.
  20. All in good fun here, but you’re proving my point! We’re on the same team, let’s get one more snow event before it’s all said and done. Climo is on our side.
  21. Your model run flipping is as bad as any poster on here. Relax and enjoy your 4" of slop while it's 70 degrees in the MA.
  22. Made a last minute decision to take the day off and head into the alpine. Booted up Right gully and ascended the snowfields and then descended via snowfields and sluice. Wind was blowing near 50 consistently once we topped out of the bowl but it was above 40 degrees as we approached 6000’. Summit may have set a record temp today. Skiing was good but skipped the corn cycle and went right to mash potatoes. Like another poster said, there is very little snow in the alpine. Lower headwall is almost out. Looks like a week or so of snow preservation but hoping for a few late season elevation events.
