WB 12Z GEFS mean is not nearly as cold as the GFS global for the Day 10 period storm. No go for now.

By the way I have a big meeting in DC that I really need to do in person on the morning of the 23rd, so this storm is a lock!!!!

Models are now picking up Phase 2 MJO for the period around Day 10….

WB 12Z GFS… suppressed….

MJO trending toward Phase 2 rather than the null phase for the week of the 20th. Perhaps the more favorable forcing will help us with storm tracks that week…

I will wait two more weeks to throw in the towel, still some hope in the third and fourth week of March especially N and W.

The granddaddy of March winter storms in Baltimore came at the end of March 1942, known as the Palm Sunday storm. An innocuous weather forecast called for flurries in western areas, but what started as rain ended up as snow from 2 a.m. that Sunday through 9 p.m. that evening, dumping 22 inches. Cars were abandoned and streetcars and trolleys halted. One local weatherman, John R. Weeks, called the storm a "freak". There have been a group tracking since December, we might as well take the last two weeks and try to keep hope alive for the next two weeks. I have seen worse GEFS looks over the last 3.5 months. I always get a little more hopeful when I see a member with a big hit to our south…in about two weeks I will put the snow maps away until next year, if you don’t like them, ignore them.
