  1. What's with all of the banter on the non-banter threads?  The last storm had 160+ pages of comments of which maybe 30 wasn't the, "knew it wouldn't jackpot over my house," variety.  Or the infamous, "You said it would go east and it went west."
Here's a request for the moderators to start moderating again.  We all don't care for all of the opinionated posts.  Discuss the models and leave it at that.  Use the banter thread for your uninteresting conjecture and the memory lane thread for your uninteresting memories.

    Thanks.

    My memories are delightfully whimsical.

  2. I was not. That must have been incredible. I've maxed out around 20" while living in several places dating back to the 90s.

We had a ton in Morris County in January 2016, March 2018, and February 1, 2021. Were you here then?

  3. The BOS radar just pisses me off. I don't think I've ever experienced anything like that. Never in the right place at the right time. No risk of rain or taint, no risk the band just passes through, and hour after hour of cold powdery dentrite dumpage during daytime on a weekend!!
I haven't experienced even moderate intensity of snowfall at any moment during daytime this winter.

  4. Everyone of course is focused on the storm but how about these temperatures. Could we have the coldest temperatures of the year tonight or tomorrow night. We have a good snow pack to enhance those low temps. 14 degrees here and falling all morning

  5. I think what’s interesting about our perspectives is that two of my favorite recent storms - December 30, 2000 and March 6, 2018 - don’t mean much to people in our eastern region, while they loved that early January 2018 storm, February 2013, and probably this one, because of how it performed.

It’s definitely our recency/personal bias at play that if it didn’t impact you (or really, the city), it didn’t happen.

  6. Yeah we’ve had a few decent gusts, more than i was expecting tbh. Just a few inches so far, but i have a 1’ drift at my front door where the wind funnels.

    Fun to see, right?

I like this kind of storm - snow swirling and wind howling, but not a stupid amount. And I can say that after having three big storms in the past five or so years in my neck of the woods, so I’ve been spoiled enough.

  7. Its hysterical…if some of us “way up northwest” were posting how some in suffolk are now, it would cause a riot and claims of “you guys dont count you arent in the metro”. Sigh.

I’m not from there, but I don’t get why some people on Long Island don’t think the NJ suburbs count as the metro area.
