Cold and rainy spring with maybe an April snowstorm thrown in
Oh please no

3.5” of sleet? no thanks!
Snow or sleet or rain; no ice, please.
We usually don’t get a ton of ice around these parts, but never say never.

What's with all of the banter on the non-banter threads? The last storm had 160+ pages of comments of which maybe 30 wasn't the, "knew it wouldn't jackpot over my house," variety. Or the infamous, "You said it would go east and it went west."
Here's a request for the moderators to start moderating again. We all don't care for all of the opinionated posts. Discuss the models and leave it at that. Use the banter thread for your uninteresting conjecture and the memory lane thread for your uninteresting memories.
Thanks.
My memories are delightfully whimsical.

Bengals in the super bowl? What alternate reality is this?
And possibly facing the 49ers?

The 00z Euro and Ukie are significantly different and colder from the GFS and both bring good snows to the area. 12z GFS has trended more south and wave is weaker which is good if you want snow.
Y’all got any of those maps?

“…it seems such a discordantly humdrum interest for a human being of such otherworldly talent. Mike Trout: A generational athlete who also happens to geek out over online interactions with meteorologists.”

Hey genius my avatar is the same and that private message you send me obviously shows you my name. I no longer reside in NYC which is why I changed my name. What’s your point????

Got meatballs going after shoveling and sledding in stupid cold conditions.

Jfc its cold
Luckily I was able to stop square dancing long enough to take the farmhands into town to go sledding.
It was 15° with a steady breeze. Reminded me of 1994 a little bit because I sledded this same hill in that winter when it was as cold and colder.

The same here. Please just kill me if I ever again spend 10 days tracking 2.3" of snow.
This made me legitimately laugh out loud.
. -
I was not. That must have been incredible. I've maxed out around 20" while living in several places dating back to the 90s.
We had a ton in Morris County in January 2016, March 2018, and February 1, 2021. Were you here then?

The BOS radar just pisses me off. I don't think I've ever experienced anything like that. Never in the right place at the right time. No risk of rain or taint, no risk the band just passes through, and hour after hour of cold powdery dentrite dumpage during daytime on a weekend!!
I haven't experienced even moderate intensity of snowfall at any moment during daytime this winter.

Everyone of course is focused on the storm but how about these temperatures. Could we have the coldest temperatures of the year tonight or tomorrow night. We have a good snow pack to enhance those low temps. 14 degrees here and falling all morning

If only we had a negative NAO. This storm would have closed off earlier and the whole area would have had a hecs.
Just goes to show why they’re historical. It doesn’t come together often.

17° and snow winding down here, give or take a half foot of windblown powdery goodness, and I’m off to shovel soon and then come back inside and make meatballs for dinner.

My dog is obsessed with snow and she even refuses to go outside. One of our colder/windier storms in awhile.
Mine too

I think what’s interesting about our perspectives is that two of my favorite recent storms - December 30, 2000 and March 6, 2018 - don’t mean much to people in our eastern region, while they loved that early January 2018 storm, February 2013, and probably this one, because of how it performed.
It’s definitely our recency/personal bias at play that if it didn’t impact you (or really, the city), it didn’t happen.

Honest question: why do some people hug models and not see a bigger picture or trends, whether good or bad? I’m not trained, so just asking.
. -
Isn’t it amusing that it’s the same thing year after year? Some people chase models as if they’re gospel, when they’re just a bow in the quiver of knowledge we have.
Anyway, I have no idea what I’m talking about, but all of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again.

I just woke up a little while ago… how did the surface low end up tracking and precipitation shield go versus what was expected since last night?
. -
Yeah we’ve had a few decent gusts, more than i was expecting tbh. Just a few inches so far, but i have a 1’ drift at my front door where the wind funnels.
Fun to see, right?
I like this kind of storm - snow swirling and wind howling, but not a stupid amount. And I can say that after having three big storms in the past five or so years in my neck of the woods, so I’ve been spoiled enough.
. -
Maybe 3-5” so far at MMU, but the wind has been howling. Lots of drifting for the moderate amount of snow we’ve gotten.

Its hysterical…if some of us “way up northwest” were posting how some in suffolk are now, it would cause a riot and claims of “you guys dont count you arent in the metro”. Sigh.
I’m not from there, but I don’t get why some people on Long Island don’t think the NJ suburbs count as the metro area.
