I'm liking where this GFS run is going...

Thats horrible! I'm talking more along the lines of when the temperature gets below 50 the heat MUST go on.
I'm very warm blooded, I need the heat to be somewhere between 75-80.
I’m definitely of the opinion of life’s too short to live like that (being in your own home at 36°).
I get it - things are expensive and inflation has been absolutely abysmal (check my grocery bill) - but to live like that? Geez.

paywalled but if they're talking about using heating appliances for heat, I used to do that because I didn't want to turn my heat on before November 1st. Then I got a space heater for my bedroom so it's all good.
This guy. 36° in his house.

Certainly possible. Pattern changes were forecast in years like 01-02, 05-06, 11-12, 19-20 that never came and were always 10 days out. Twitter and Facebook posts have made it all the worse with hype and clickbait. Keep expectations low for now, it's still early winter so lots of time for the goods to be delivered.
Have we mentioned sun angle yet

Please don’t do this. I don’t put my heat up over 65°, but it’s far more costly to deal with broken appliances and burst pipes in your house.

Below is interesting article on feasibility of deliberately spreading particles in the stratosphere to stop global warming.
I am not an advocate of this idea, but do think it noteworthy that it's being reluctantly considered. Maybe this should be in climate thread, but I wanted to share in the sub-forum I am familiar with.
Dimming the Sun to Cool the Planet Is a Desperate Idea, Yet We're Inching Toward It. The scientists who study solar geoengineering don’t want anyone to try it. But climate inaction is making it more likely.

This seems like an idea that will have wildly invariable and not-at-all-thought-out consequences. This is how snowpiercer happened.

Both EPS and GEFS have great looks for us.
Hard not to be intrigued when both are showing same progression.

This is a classic early season bottom up blocking event with a forecast for a record weak vortex at 100 mb.

Part of that is entertainment for me.
I like the following things here (outside of actual weather and knowledge I discover) for amusement during a chilly and dark time of year:
• Cancelling Winter as early as possible. This year was before Halloween; in 2023, I demand Labor Day. I’m anticipating cancelling the following winter during the current winter by 2029.
• Insults for the sake of insults. It’s like a toxic work environment, but we don’t get paid to put up with it.
• Perfect memes and gifs. (Obviously pronounced like the peanut butter Jif)

DT is calling for a cold and snowy December in the east.
The grammar and spacing is always hard to get through on these forecasts.

omg is he or she carrying the trash away?
your new sanitation engineer is here ;-)
I make my wife crudités for her lunches everyday, and had just thrown out some expired single hummus packs and old baby carrots and zucchini. There were paw marks in the hummus.

I like that people seeing two completely opposite things from the same map. (Editor’s note: I don’t know what those maps mean other than pretty colors. I was told there would be no math.)
