  1. You are always welcome down here! Love to meet for a beer!
  2. Heavy snow driving home 45 minutes ago! 23° and still snowing. Almost 2” so far. Here NW of Staunton Augusta County .
  3. I grew up in upstate NY and it was similar. Snow falling at the bus stop with 4” having just fallen and expecting 5” more. Had to take my mittens off periodically to use my fingers to thaw the ice building up on my eye lashes from my breath. Of course, we had lots of plows and busses with chains and salt and dirt. We were used to 70” a year on average. Not so much in Virginia.
  4. I am a high school teacher. When dealing with public education, one needs to be aware that some parents don’t own cars or have reliable transportation and/or a work schedule that allows them to drive their kids to school. So, it isn’t always up to parents to dictate the transportation method. Thus, the bus is the only option for many students to get to school. I am glad the school divisions are conservative and err on the side of safety since parents would rather school be canceled than have their kids in a bus accident.
  5. Someone posted a line graph of the models and their verification scores a week or so back and the GFS was on a horrible streak in the last month where it went to last place.
  6. Last storm it had 12-16” for me and would not budge. I ended up with 8.5” after the 2” in the second round last night. I am not complaining, I’m just saying it is a model and stating the obvious that it is not infallible just bc it has the best verification scores.
  7. Snowing again and 29 degrees NW of Staunton in Augusta County. Needles mixing in this time around!
  8. Looks like the CMC wrt to orientation of the max stripe.
  9. Have 6.5” of snow with a few layers of sleet mixed in so far. Was like concrete to push with the blade and the atv. Awesome storm!
  10. If this verifies, the Euro was way more correct than the GFS for the last 2-3 days!
  11. Again, it matters where you are looking. The western part of the stripe is heading south towards the Euro solution. For example, LWX has increased snow totals in their warning here compared to their watch. By like 3-5 inches lol
  12. There is movt towards increased totals down south and southwest like the Euro. It matters where you are looking for sure.
  13. Okay, I will let you all know if I start sleet or snow at 5:00pm tomorrow because the models still don’t agree!
  14. Same. So far, the north/warmer camp won’t cave to the south/colder camp and vice versa. Initially, I thought the model wars were intriguing and fun to watch unfold, but now being so close to the onset of the storm it is just plain annoying. On the bright side, at least we are all tracking and wintry precip is inbound!
  15. I guess we are looking at different parts of the stripe it is laying down, but the Euro has depicted the heaviest snow right over Augusta County for at least 6 runs in a row now. If anything, the heaviest part of the stripe out west here has moved a tick south in the past two days.
  16. NAM nest says “what snow?” here in Augusta County whereas the Euro and Ukie drop 12-15”. Lol This is going to be ‘fun’ to track on the way in!
  17. Looks like Dippin’ Dots candy from back in the day
  18. Roads caving. Temperature dropped 5° to 30° in the last 10 minutes..
  19. Snow squalls on and off today. Stickage during high rates. 35 degrees
