  1. I haven't been following the details in here quite so much (with yesterday's event going on). But how much does the Thursday potential influence or possibly impact anything for the weekend? I actually didn't even think of Thursday until I read a bit in here yesterday!
  2. I guess we await the ice and wind now, wonder how much ice accretion there will be once ZR sets in.
  3. Old TV game show!! I can't remember who the host was offhand.
  4. LOL!! Margaritas sure are good and refreshing. The only way I ever care to have tequila at all!! But yeah, gotta be a bit careful. Used to like martinis, and a friend of mine and I (when I lived in Atlanta) would go out for those upon occasion. I admit to having had a bit too much a time or two!!
  5. I don't even know if they really treated the smaller secondary roads here. They have as much snow cover as anything else right now.
  6. Don't let that glass fall...or get blown off the railing!!
  7. Hahaha, but of course!!! Makes me think of the old Joker's Wild, I can hear the host saying "Weenie, Weenie, Weenie!! You win!!!"
  8. Scots-Irish here, myself, but I hear what you're saying. So I get a double-dose of drunken bastardness! I'm enjoying some wine right now. My dad loved single malt Scotch (NEVER on the rocks, always straight-up!). I like it myself that way, the occasional times I still have some (though my brother thinks it tastes like crap!!). I probably sound like an alkie now, but moderation of course!! Hahaha!
  9. I hope I'll be able to get some ice photos later this evening, when we are getting sleet/freezing rain.
  10. One good thing about snow, it always makes things brighter out at night. So easier to get nighttime photos (without having to crank up the ISO too overly much!).
  11. Yeah we just need to land all 7s or cherries or something!! And if you win, a bunch of snow comes out rather than coins!
  12. Nice!! Perfect way to spend a snowy evening!!! Need some wine in front of that fire!
  13. Dr. Chillglove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Sleet Bomb! ETA: Snowing heavily, 2.0" on the ground currently.
  14. In the Chevy Chase/Bethesda area, near the Beltway and CT Ave. Martin's Additions isn't that far from me, like literally down the road.
  15. Snowing moderately, estimate ~3/4" by now or so. Here are a couple of photos...
  16. Wow...looks like even the horses have caved! Horse-topper! Snow has picked up here where I am, good coating all over everything now.
  17. Wasn't it Clint Eastwood who said, "Nobody, I mean nobody, puts ketchup on a hotdog!"
  18. Yeah, it's pretty stupid honestly. Like you said, it's not as if the models or the atmosphere "listens" to MA weenies and says "oh, they started a thread too early, let's screw them over!!" I can see why SNE might tend to start storm threads earlier simply due to their climatology and they have obviously more leeway in terms of setups for such things. Here, it's kinda silly to start threads really early not due to "superstition", but because we typically are in a more tentative setup and it's better to wait for a bit more information/detail. Otherwise you end up with a bunch of BS commentary going on as things waver back and forth. ETA: The only times I recall starting threads relatively earlier are for the big events (Feb. 2010, Jan. 2016). But that's because at the time there was such a strong agreement and signal across essentially all models and ensembles, so it made sense.
  19. Just keep it away from the fine Persian rug!!
  20. Quite the interesting read this morning. All this talk of the NAM joining the party interspersed with Intercourse, Climax, Tightsqueeze, Blue Ball, etc. Sounds like a @ravensrule road trip to me!!! There's also a Climax in Michigan. I remember that because a friend of mine from Purdue landed a job somewhere outside Detroit, and I was helping him move. We got a good laugh passing by that while driving along I-94
