I do remember that, when it went to separate regions. Some people liked it, others didn't care for it at least initially. I think partly because there are good posters that people liked to hear from each region, even if they were looking for different things. But it did get difficult following events for your particular area, when you heard various interpretations. And yeah, nobody around here cares to read all about Boston getting hammered by a blizzard when there's nothing in this area. In the end, I think the regionalized format is much better and prefer it to the previous almost free-for-all discussions.

Whelp...on to the overrunning event early next month!! Right?! Right?! I have to say, looking at the NAM output from yesterday's 18Z vs. today's is like bizarro world. It's almost funny, the contrast.

Seems that maybe a couple or some were lamenting that 84h might be about it for this area, that the precip shield would consolidate more toward the coast or whatever. Maybe so, who knows, it's the NAM. But dammit, there was already some 5" up to that point, why complain?!?! Take that and run!

Yeah not sure about extreme amounts, but it was at ~5" around DC at 84h and still snowing. Whatever that is worth for an 84h NAM!

It's not a matter of popularity. You bring up some good points but can come off as a bit superior and dismissive of others' comments.

True. Models don't "remember" and perhaps the idea of trending a certain way is more attributing a human characteristic onto them. But it does serve a purpose to look at d(model)/dt. Personally I think Rockem Sockem comes off a bit too dismissive and arrogant on the subject when there is no need to do so.
