Honestly the icon is very wishy washy. I’m not sure why it’s even a model.

The MJO to me is huge in that it still has the cold phases to rotate thru. Especially in the heart of winter.

The storm later this week Jan. 10-11 definitely is showing to be a nice solid hit statewide. The Euro is steady in the camp now. Looks like a solid 4-8” across the state. Now if the temps are colder then the rates will be higher than the normal 10:1. Good times ahead. Let’s reel in this big dog. Woof woof!

Right now any reference to the possibility of winter wx is for the Jan.10 onward in this forum. There is a separate thread for the Jan.5-6 storm that will mainly be rain for most in the state of TN. Maybe some ice at the onset.

The models always don’t show the NW precip shield well. Plus a system like that will gain in latitude.

It’s looking as if the temps are moderating. Now only a couple days below freezing on my TWC app. Back into 40’s by next weekend.

Also appears the Euro is back to its bias of holding energy back in the SW.

I don’t think we will know the answer till Thursday late or Friday. The CMC is the middle ground which might end up being close to the final solution. We have a chance of a state wide snow. Plus possibly even more chances to follow. We also have no idea how many clipper disturbances will swing thru from the NW flow. At least we have something to track & look at.

With the temps & more chances of frozen precip to follow. What a mess that would be. Actually that would be very dangerous for so many.
