I read that the fruit trees are complete loss this year. That’s going to hurt. -

Flurries & soccer sounds about right for spring in TN. Wonder how many layers I can wear today. Lol. Well tulips are complete loss after last night. Azaleas I’m afraid to look. Tonight will be worse. Ugly spring incoming. -

Truly amazing it’s this cold in March. This is cold that should have been in January. Soccer tomorrow is going to be cold. Have the My Buddy heater ready to go with blankets. Just hope the wind tomorrow is not like today. Sun does help so clouds please stay away tomorrow. Mowed yard today in cold. Then actually mulched the trees. Gotta go slow with this long Covid. Wife helps with yard. Checked azaleas. They look to be ok with no damage yet. The Jap. maple what leaves had come out are toast. Tulips are good so far with no damage. Blooms still closed. Dogwood same no damage I can tell. Buds are still closed & look ok. Now tonight near 20 could do much damage. Hoping not. -

All I can say is wow to UT beating Duke. Unbelievable March Madness so far. Hope TIDE are focused. -

What an annoying cold weekend! Soccer tomorrow will not be fun. Hopefully the WC is less than today. Winter is just rubbing salt into our winter wounds at this point. A couple more days then 60s-70s arrive. Winter can leave & hopefully the door hits it on the way out. -

Well Dollywood is like maybe next year open up in April. Spring break should always be in April. I hate March. Always will. Let’s declare March the new January. -

Yes unfortunately looks like planting season will be delayed this spring. Which is no surprise with these last few springs around here. My redbuds have been blooming well over a week now. The tulip trees also. They were almost done anyway. Yep my Jap maple new leaves will be toast. Landscaping already looked rough from the Dec. cold spell. Heck why not finish it all off lol. Ugly spring incoming. -

I was shocked that Houston lost & still got the other #1 seed. My wife a Duke fan is feeling it. I told her that their bracket is brutal. I actually feel pretty good about my TIDE & their bracket. I could see them & Duke in final 8. Ugh. I hate Duke. Yes my wife knows. UCLA is scary. I thought they deserved the other #1. Realistically any team could win it this year. Don’t hate me too much. Roll Tide! -

Tomorrow here in the midstate will be much better. Near 50. 8-10 degrees higher than today with less wind. These cold temps are like rubbing salt in an open wound at this point after the winter we have had. If climatology is right each cold snap should be less harsh here on out. Maybe these cold spells mean we skip the locusts, dogwood & etc winters. Winter can take a long vacation at this point. March madness is here & my team is at the top. Which usually is a curse. March is my least favorite month except March Madness makes it less disliked. -

My dogwoods & Azaleas are just now showing a little green. Very little. I know I have lost some shrubs due to the temps around Christmas. A landscaper told my neighbor that the Hollie trees/bushes are alive but will have to be hedge trimmed to get the dead frozen ends off. He said to wait till April. Going to be costly for many this spring. -

I will take todays wx for soccer. Low to mid 50’s is perfect for it. My opinion to get snow in lower elevations will take a miracle. Plus the ground temps would melt plenty of snow falling for it to overcome for it to stick. Then you have sun angle against us also. At this point I don’t won’t any temps. close to supporting snow. Why? It would most likely just be a very cold rain. Hard pass on that scenario. My fescue is loving this wx. -

Today has turned out nice. It’s warmer than was predicted plus the rain is not panning out. Almost 60 here. To me that’s perfect temp. -
It will be interesting how spring plays out. To me it seems we are in a cooling trend the last few years. Though data says we’re warming to me it seems to be going the opposite. I believe severe wx will be very quiet again this spring. I just believe springs are just getting cooler. I could be totally wrong & hope that I’m not because I don’t care for tornadoes.

The wx & patterns sure seem to be all out of whack. Added the volcanoes & earthquakes strange times to be living in. The west has had a winter for the ages. Though the positive is the reservoirs are full out there now. Plus it appears there will be snow on the ground when winter begins later this year out there. I read where the Sierras have over 700”. That’s unbelievable. -

Looking at my forecast which is very risky & highly unlikely to be correct. It looks like around a week of cooler to 1-2 days cold before back to 60’s. -

Thanks for all your great info. Yep no doubt shock to the system it will be. Ugh. These warm days & the blooming have made me so ready for spring. Crazy how it seems cool/cold springs are now common here in TN. -

Think the average high this time year is 56-59. So would mean 45-50 temps. Will be interesting to see how cold it gets. Being soccer season I expect cold & wet.
