  1. you could just see it’s that kind of winter
  2. Colder in ATL this morning than JFK. although that isn’t unusual on clear nights with cool airmasses. Usually, you see it more for Raleigh and Charlotte. At Atlanta is pretty far south, but they do have the elevation.
  3. see that’s what they don’t seem to get. They rather it be +5 and get one big storm by luck. if you look at this January, all the fundamentals are in place. youre gonna get a lot of little stuff and you may get a big thing. It will click. much better to have prolonged cold in place then pray for a perfect nino track with mid 40s on both ends of it..if you truly want winter
  4. if this was el nino, we would be running +5 or more with a lot of rain and talking about it being too warm to snow
  5. No its not. just stop. you have a cold winter on your hands. snowfall possibilities exist for the next 9 weeks in this type of winter.
  6. what storm tracks have you been looking at sir?
  7. Amen. A real winter. One we havent had in a while
  8. one could hope. snow aside, the climate here has become disgustingly moist. I would like a year of BN precip
  9. I dont need government agencies that I consider the Gold Standard of anything to be social media comedians. Especially because so much bullshit gets posted and reposted by people…in this case with regards to weather. One thing they tell us about Pilot PAs…skip the jokes/slang/unprofessional opinion. It is beneath the role of the pilot and you never know who you are going to offend. A few years ago I was on a flight from MCI to LGA and the pilot came on the PA and said “we are gonna fly it like we stole it” It was funny. Except, the role of a pilot is to be safe and then timely. And you can bet your ass that if something happened on that flight because he was rushing, that very public PA would be used against him. Leave the jokes to Mr G “some snow or some snow” NWS stick to dry “just the facts mam” reports
  10. I put the upstate cities along with Ohio… cloudy kind of depressing their best days are behind them. The Adirindacks have charm because they are spectacular. I almost got a knifed in Albany on that one nice street they have with cafés. Syracuse and Rochester are just kind of burnt out and bad. Buffalo has a few nice blocks they redid. These are not places you want to live. even if you like snow that same thing that brings them snow in the winter makes some very cloudy and overcast and cool on many days when it’s sunny and beautiful down here in the spring and fall
  11. take the light event if it comes. it’s gonna be bitter cold afterwards you’ll have snow on the ground for the week. not everything has to be a blizzard.
  12. Fat lady was in an uber home after the show last night. haha
  13. You are getting a traditional temperature January. Take it and run and be happy. This is like the QE2 pulling into port in 1985 and you are looking for the Queen Mary.
  14. It really isnt a roller coaster. The storm misses south and may graze us. Everything else is model noise
  15. See, you jump on every warm thing you see. Then you wonder why I say you have a warm bias. Meanwhile the verification of these long term patterns is marginal at best. Enjoy the cold January
  16. This is why you dont get all excited for these storms 10 days out. Only get the nuts and bolts within 5 days or so…and these nuts and bolts dont look to good for metro area
  17. I never ever remember a thunderstorm on New Years. Walls of the house shaking!
  18. Your guys make fun of the general public… Whenever I see a perfect storm 10 days out and the posters on here jumping all over it I just laugh. There is no perfect storm 10 days out. January is up to 19 pages already on 12/31 based on a threat on 1/6 And some of you make fun of social media
  19. If there is a warm up coming, a potential storm, or a potential marginal event you lean warm. MJO leans cold. All Snow is somewhere between Snowman19 is warmer than you. when you stick around long enough, you get to know peoples posts and their biases.
  20. Not really. He is very knowledgeable but leans warm too much. He had record warmth for xmas week That said, it is a beautiful day at Giants Stadium
  21. 42F here. Didnt see 50s yesterday. I think you needed to be near coast with wind off the water
  22. Depends on where the front lands right? I also thing “60s” is a usual exaggeration from the forum warmies. Upper 50s is what I have seen for forecast highs with rainy conditions.
