Does a 30 inch snow storm mean much if it is surrounded by 50 and 60 degree days for the other 3 months of winter? Because many of those big El Nino storms have been that type of winter. 2015-16 was a disaster of a winter. One epic snowstorm doesnt eliminate a Dec of 70s and the latest freeze ever.

Well thats where we reside. I mean the whole country is warm and Ninos arent particularly cold around here. Usually mild and wet with a good storm or two. For the life of me I dont know why so many on this forum have been rooting for one…not that rooting for weather matters much.

That has us .5-1 AN. Which is pretty tame for us. Ugly is Iowa. Or am I missing something? Nino with warmest departures over Upper Midwest is what is expected. This jives.

I walked the dog with a leather jacket on this morning because it was 48 and there was a stiff breeze. Plenty cold for October. And much colder than any October weather we have had around here for a while. No need to defend yourself against childishness

i’m a believer in not talking about the pattern that’s supposed to be but looking at the pattern that’s in front of you. I like this pattern. I like the blocking. I like the storm track. I like the storm frequency. I like the below normal temperatures. I like the active tropics. And I like the fact that for the first time in a long time it looks like we’re marching towards winter with at or below normal temperatures. so I’m bullish on winter this year. i’ll go all in if I see this pattern in November

it really is. I think about all our farmland on the north fork. Those aren’t even real farms aren’t anymore. They are tourist farms that depend on the fall season for making their year. and with a lot of the new mandates that New York State has passed for farm workers, there was an article about how much harder it is to even contemplate running an agricultural business on Long Island.

Map is off. I lived in Bayside at time. We got a wet dusting. Dating someone in Park Slope and they had a full snow storm. The line was around the Van Wyck. East of that not much

I dont think the city people understand how much cooler suburbs are at night and how much cooler a detached house surrounded by trees really is. My heat has been on and off during the night for a couple of weeks now with a central hvac system set at 70

I don’t care what AccuWeather says, I like the storm track and I like the below normal temperatures going into fall. Warm El Niños start with warm falls. I like our chances this winter based on what Im seeing thru mid Oct

I just flew through the line. It definitely means business at altitude. No severe turbulence but close. In 20 years of flying this is the worst weather I have ever experienced in September. September is usually a nice month for flying. This has been one shit month.ty
