  1. High here was -12 at both midnight and during the day. Have since fallen back to -14 now.
  2. Up to -14 ORD as of last OBS, which will likely be the high for daytime hours...though the actual high will be the midnight temp of -10. The first checkpoint I want to see for -30 is -15 by 6PM OBS...which realistically shouldn't be hard given where things are right now.
  3. LOT going as cold as -42 just east of RPJ for tonight.
  4. Yea, there's a few check points I have in mind to break the record or hit -30.
  5. About a week ago I went coldest temp of -28 for ORD during this period. I think I'm going to stick with that for the temp for tonight. Additionally, I think across Northern Illinois the coldest location will end up being ARR, at -37.
  6. Still -15 ORD. Likely won't fall much anymore, so we're going to have a nice starting point for tonight. Only need 13F from current temp for the record.
  7. MLI the only one that "warm" in the area.
  8. The -51 wind chill at ORD for the 7AM OBS is tied for the 5th coldest hourly OBS wind chill on record.
  9. The coldest noon temp of the 2014 cold was 1/6, with a noon temp of -14. This time noon temp was -18, which makes it the second coldest noon temp on record...only behind -21 on 1/10/1982.
  10. Look locked into a 2-4” event tomorrow. I’ll go 3.0” ORD. .
  11. This is advection cold, not radiational cold. Thus, the cold is about the same everywhere. Tonight will be radiational cold.
  12. ORD down to -17. Already broke the daily record low of -15, set in 1966.
  13. ORD has dropped 4F in the past hour...down to -13 now. Once that front past, the advection really ramped up. Too bad it was literally 10mins too late for the one record.
  14. -20's temps and -50's wind chills have entered NW. Illinois. DBQ now -22 with -51 WC.
  15. ORD -10 as of midnight. All time record low max temp of -11 will stand.
  16. ORD was -6 at 8:30. Everything is on track. The coldest push of air is incoming. Its coming in waves... -10's entering NW. Illinois now, -20's in SE. Minnesota now.
  17. 0.3" ORD and 0.1" here today from the Arctic snow showers. DPA even reported +SN for a brief time.
  18. A majority of that is OBS sites reporting the blowing snow as falling snow.
  19. Temp drops of 3F/hr moving into ARX/DVN CWA now. Mason City dropped 3F in last hour, for example.
  20. You were wrong last week, and will be wrong again this time around.
  21. And there it is... RAP the first showing -40's in the region. -41 near SQI 12z Thur morning and -32 ORD, with temps still dropping.
