  1. also "we are all in this together" is a cliche, clearly certain outcomes affect some a lot more than others.
  2. Goldberg just mentioned it "Looks like after a quiet January we're going to have a rough first half of February beginning with another possible coastal snowstorm next weekend"
  3. snowing harder here again. This is an imperfect storm but if it's a foot plus there really isn't much to complain about.
  4. big snowhole is over central to NE Nassau, its only very light snow here but not nothing like it was before Lee Goldberg saying snow rates in the city will be half an inch an hour from here on out for the first half of the night
  5. based on that map it looks like Boston will get over a foot of snow. meanwhile here I am counting 5 flakes per second lol
  6. different for different areas lol, plus I enjoy the build up to a storm more than the storm itself
  7. well it's snowing here again but it's light and flake size is small, but it is snowing again.
  8. the problem wasn't the sleet (which only lasted a few minutes) it's the lack of any precip since 1 PM
  9. on to the next? NBC has been talking about another big one for next Sunday and then an extreme shot of Arctic air.
  10. lol it seems to be a semi permanent feature. The only thing happening here are the extremely high winds
  11. I dont know where you guys are getting this snow from lol it's been zilch here since 1 PM and people are out shoveling it now
  12. a few things might be at play 1) ocean temps are way way above normal (talking about mid to upper 40s) 2) dry air worked into the system from off the ocean and dry air coming from the ocean is usually mild 3) everything was sped up so what was supposed to be happening tonight is happening now As it is it didn't really matter because the sleet only lasted for half an hour at most and then all precip just stopped.
  13. they are spoiled by Jan 2016, thats a one in 30 year storm in terms of how widespread the extremely high snowfall totals were west to east, most snowstorms are more comparable to summertime thunderstorms in terms of who does really well vs who doesn't- primary cases include Feb 2006 and Feb 2013, both of which were amazing but only over small areas. Rarely do you get big storms that are great for large areas, thats why the historic ones are so rare.
  14. never really thought this would be a historic storm for the highly populated areas, but over a foot is really good, plus looks like we have another coastal coming for next weekend.
  15. it didn't just dry slot the skies brightened lol, people think the storm is over and are out snowblowing.
  16. snow ended here about an hour ago so I figured I would measure it....14" no snow no sleet, nada outside for the past hour except for high winds and blowing snow, 29 degrees.
