  1. you see this often the locations that have record heat in the summer have record cold or snow in the winter
  2. thats why I see people predicting an el nino for next winter and not just an el nino but a strong one (see main forum)
  3. its not the end of the world if there is 0 measurable snow this season, that would actually be historic and fun to see. It also considerably increases the odds for seeing a historic positive season in the next few years based on the last 20 years.
  4. saving on heating costs is a win/win
  5. the fundamental failing of models is not being able to model quantum states. It's why control can have unintended consequences, if you can't predict something to an nth level of exactitude then trying to control it will have unintended consequences. I love fractals as much as you do, knowledge of them is essential to properly model nature because of remarkable similarities separated by multiple orders of magnitude....knowledge of fractals will actually help simplify the process of modeling by using what we already know to model what we dont know.
  6. Yup just for that one winter alone but think about it we had a three year streak of AMAZING winters (I'm not including 05-06 because that was a one hit winter.) And then we had a few bad to average winters from 06-07 through 08-09 followed by two historic blockbusters. After 11-12 we had an average 12-13 and then two historic winters again 13-14 and 14-15
  7. I think it's a question of if you're willing to put up with a near perfect snowless winter if you think that next year could be a blockbluster. I already see comparisons to 2002-03 for next year coming out of the main forum. Would you guys care if we had a completely snowless winter this year if we could score big next year? Thats the way it's been happening recently (a streak of great winters after one nearly snowless winter, it's happened multiple times since 2001-02.)
  8. The people who are against it are puppets who repeat corporate brainwashing talking points which is absolutely hilarious-- they have puppet strings on their backs and dont even realize it. Dude it's the way the rest of the developed world works, America is the dysfunctional nation not them. Talking about Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc.
  9. PS climate scientists are talking about being gagged by Facebook while fossil fuel companies post misleading and antiscientific ads. More info upcoming.
  10. It's extremely ironic because now that oil has been found on Greenland I fear that will be one more source of climate catastrophe. I see mining procedures have already begun there. Some are quite excited at the ice melting and the prospects of the riches to be made from it as climate catastrophe ensues.
  11. What would it take to be super warm across the whole continent? Alaska, Canada and the CONUS too?! Has it ever happened?
  12. We finally had a hard freeze! Are all the weeds and bugs finally gone?! Also was this LGA's first freeze and was this a hard freeze for them too (27 or lower?) Now winter really begins!
  13. Yes always, and it's a pretty alarming list. What I'm thinking is, as stated in the piece, these people are responsible for the vast majority of the inaction and problems we face. I wish we had a list of products they produce so we could organize some boycotts (of those who are business leaders and corporate executives.)
  14. I HOPE SOMEONE TURNS THIS INTO A HIT LIST THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE TAKEN DOWN AND HARD https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/oct/27/climate-crisis-villains-americas-dirty-dozen
  15. Dude, unlike the Mets he has a dynasty going. dyNasty with a capital N
  16. Some hope from elsewhere https://twitter.com/i/events/1472719859850956800 Former student activist Gabriel Boric becomes Chile's youngest president Leftist lawmaker Gabriel Boric defeated right-wing candidate Jose Antonio Kast in Chile's presidential runoff on Sunday. The 35-year-old, who rose to prominence leading protests in 2011 demanding better education, will be the nation's youngest leader, Reuters reported. Boric has promised to address economic inequality, raise taxes on the rich and boost green investments, according to the BBC. Who is Gabriel Boric? "A native of Punta Arenas, in Chile's far south, Boric as a student led the Federation of Students at the University of Chile in Santiago. He rose to prominence leading protests in 2011 demanding improved and cheaper education. By 2014, still in his 20s, he had joined the national Congress as a lower-house lawmaker, representing Chile's vast and sparsely populated southernmost region of Magallanes." — Reuters finally success! at least there are still some smart nations out there
  17. well it had to end sometime https://time.com/5894403/how-the-1918-flu-pandemic-ended/
  18. I wonder how we dealt with this in 1918 never had a vaccine for that one, took 3 years, what made it finally go away
  19. wtf is going on with this. Not to keep saying I'm right but I had this pegged last year when I said this would last to the end of 2022, lol at those who don't have medical people in their families who thought it would be gone by now. I love when people who haven't been around medical professionals all their lives give their negative 2 cents I've been reading medical books since I was in 7th grade (12 yrs old), never wanted to become a doctor like my mom was (she was a radiation oncologist) but it was easy enough to learn plus carrying around a 3,000 page book was good for building muscles in other areas too.
  20. 1992-93 was the best of that lot
  21. sounds like a recurring theme lol
  22. did we have that in 1984-85 too? I think we had a run of years like that in the 80s
  23. what happened to it? did someone break it?
