  1. I'm hoping for more like Summer 2010 than some disgusting high humidity summer.
  2. aren't we in the middle of the negative phase of the PDO cycle now? I see some predictions for a big east coast winter next year hopefully we get a big el nino which is whats needed to make that happen. I hope the Pacific gets so hot that steam is rising from it.
  3. storm track shifts causing less suppressed and offshore storms increasing snowfall totals in NE cities? so storms that would give DC and Balt snowfall and then head out to sea are coming farther north and staying closer to the coast (because of warmer SST)
  4. people need an outlet for their anger.....this helps so thanks
  5. these aren't people-- these are zombies and they should be treated as such. Anyone who does that should be arrested on the spot and dragged away by the cops.
  6. how come I didnt see a single flake here? How did it skip this area?
  7. everyone needs to have a/c by now. It should actually be illegal for everyone not to have a/c
  8. awesome my sister asked me if she can turn off her heat in her house in January. She has a place in the city where she stays too, so she wants to shut off both her water and her heat at her house when she's not there and if it's not cold it will save her a lot in heating bills.
  9. should've seen this coming with how hot it was there over the summer. Hopefully it hits 110 here over the summer so we get our turn
  10. yeah this is why you want very hot summers around here if you like snowy winters
  11. my point is it would actually be exciting if we had no snow for the entire winter. It's frustrating that the record of 72-73 still hasn't been broken
  12. thanks so if we have an excessively hot summer next year, I think that actually increases our odds for a snowy winter (my comparison would be something like the 2002 summer followed by the 2002-03 winter.) I'd be looking for 30 90+ days and at least 1 100+ day (at JFK and NYC too) and for July to avg 80.0+
  13. Don I noticed you mentioned Vancouver, Seattle and Portland in your post. What are the chances that the extreme heat there this summer laid the groundwork for the very wintry weather to follow? We've seen that happen in the east in years like 1993, 1995, 2010, etc.
  14. Big Cali gas leak failed clean up and methane release blamed on Halliburton https://twitter.com/i/events/1473374415198973953
  15. doesnt that lead to horrendous wildfires though? why cant we have a trough on both coasts, why cant we have short wavelengths right now instead of having to wait for March?
  16. 97-98 was super close we just had a renegade oddball event in late March that I dont even remember. I think 01-02 has to rank as the least severe winter in my lifetime but 97-98 is right behind it
  17. No dude I meant that was a year with a terrible atlantic and great pacific
  18. reminds me of 93-94 when the Pac was great and the NAO was (extremely) positive look at what kind of a winter that was
  19. you see this often the locations that have record heat in the summer have record cold or snow in the winter
  20. thats why I see people predicting an el nino for next winter and not just an el nino but a strong one (see main forum)
  21. its not the end of the world if there is 0 measurable snow this season, that would actually be historic and fun to see. It also considerably increases the odds for seeing a historic positive season in the next few years based on the last 20 years.
