    The expanding of totals on the northern fringe/bumps north continue on the HRRR/RAP. Also looks like St. Louis could even change to rain tomorrow

    These last minute trends have been nice but a little surprising in my opinion, hope it continues. My original call for 3-4” here may be a bit conservative.

    Looks like the hrrr might be trying to continue the trend east some, wouldn’t take much of a bump for more of N IL, IN to see a couple more inches atleast.

    FV3 GFS gets warning level snows up to I-80. Hm

    It sniffed out higher totals in that November storm before other models started catching on, but placement was off.

    Going to be a razor sharp cutoff somewhere in the I-88 vicinity. 00z NAM gets higher totals further north, but sharpens the cutoff on the north edge.

    May not be that bad of a pattern setting up for once

    Atleast with this system we won’t have to worry about rain like we have for the very few wintry storms we’ve had, unless you’re further south

    Models seem to be picking up on the Christmas miracle the euro was putting down a few days ago...doesn’t appear like it’d be much at all but it’d definitely be nice to see flakes flying on Christmas.

    That’s what I was thinking, the system around the 2nd precedes it and kind of “sets the stage” for the second storm, much like what happened with this last storm. Interesting.

    Yeah snow has been over for over 13 hours and the roads are still pretty bad

    Friend I have whose dad works for IDOT said there was talk about closing parts of I-88 for a time if conditions continue deteriorating, not sure if they will but wow. That’s why you don’t drive in these conditions.

    Lights are flickering quite a bit here in Dekalb.

    Went for a quick walk, saw 5 spin outs/fishtails/cars getting stuck on main roads. Ended up helping 3 people get unstuck in that short amount of time
