  1. Winds still out of the West here. Peak gust so far is 32mph. Consistently gusting in the 15-25 mph range. 3.48” of rain as of 10:45pm.
  2. They could have probably gotten the game in tonight if they had waited till 8:30 to start.
  3. If this doesn't pivot soon the rain is going to be over within the next 2-3 hours.
  4. Just started raining here and the winds picked up pretty good.
  5. Most of the trees out this way are still fully leafed. We're still probably about a good 10-14 days awake from peak here. Now if you go up about 500 feet or so into Orange County it's another story.
  6. I have to say the radar over Northern VA looks pretty impressive right now. Definitely a solid area of > 0.25" per hour rates.
  7. Yeah I'm not worried about a lack of rain, actually the exact opposite. I think the current trends argue for a wetter solution.
  8. Most of that is over LI, CT and the Hudson Valley with much lesser amounts for the city and NNJ.
  9. Not entirely sure I buy the lesser rainfall forecast. Water vapor imagery shows a sharp negatively tilted trough centered over the mid-west, with abundant moist flow to the East.
  10. Most of the time we get stronger winds here on the backside of a storm as the pressure rises. Think we're in for a similar outcome here. Anyway the wind field on the 3k NAM looks more like a tropical system than a purely cold core system with the strongest winds just to the North and East of the center.
  11. This looks more to me like a strong frontal passage. We need the surface low to come up the NJ coast instead of into Long Island in order to get into the stronger part of the storm. With that being said, looks like many areas are in for 2-3" of rain in a short period.
  12. Great setup for a slow moving 2-3 foot snowstorm today. Classic Miller B with strong blocking.
  13. Just enough blocking from the high to the North to drain dry air down into PA and Western NJ, Upstate NY. You can clearly see where the moisture cutoff line is and where the rain shield ends.
  14. Cutoff systems like this almost always end up further West than forecast because of the backing flow.
  15. About as raw of a day as you will see around here for early/mid-October. Currently 53.6 degrees with moderate to occasionally heavy rain. Only about a quarter of an inch in the bucket so far but its come in spurts, almost like squalls or bands. We've also been consistently gusting in the 20-25 MPH range.
  16. I don't think the Pats cover the spread. Going to be a lot of short passes and screens. I would bet on a 17-6 type game.
  17. Pouring here for the last hour or so. FYI - For anyone betting on the Giants/Pats game Thursday night. Forecast is for 1-2" of rain and winds gusting up to 40 MPH during the game. Should make for an interesting game.
  18. Headed for Boston on Friday, but the worst looks to be over by then. Hoping it clears out for the weekend up there. Anyone know if the Euro keeps Boston in the pesky Northerly/Wet flow on Saturday like the GGEM shows?
  19. The Euro still has quick development of another Cape Verde system towards the end of next week. This time around the ridging looks to be a bit stronger, at least until the system reaches the Central MDR.
  20. The 00z Euro has a pretty deep trough digging in days 9-10 that would likely break down the ridge and pull the system North as it approaches 40W. Hopefully that trough is overdone. The 06z GFS looks similar for the same time period.
  21. 99L is looking pretty juicy this morning. It's really far South in the MDR but NHC gave it 20/30% chance of development over the next 2/5 days. The 06z GFS actually has some development followed by an eventual landfall near the Venezuela, Guyana border. The Euro pretty much has this following Jerry, developing both this system and the one behind it into powerful hurricanes.
  22. We're probably going to get another TD by tonight. 8AM update gives 60% chance 48hrs, 90% chance within 5 days on the tropical wave out in the MDR. Models have it eventually following the weakness in the ridge left behind from Humberto but a lot can change. The 00z Euro takes the system very close to Barbuda this weekend.
