Follow this group on Facebook! Pretty cool they put out a daily forecast map and have a whole network of spotters along the shores of Ontario, Erie and Huron. Nice double waterspout picture in front of the sunrise over Lake Erie this morning. .

WIVB was reporting higher amounts earlier today. Think that 4.44” would be excluded as too much of an outlier with the other surrounding reports generally maxing at 2.5” - 3.0”. .

Getting pretty active this afternoon! .

Peak intensity earlier today. Take a look at the training storms over Michigan. Almost looks like the lake was feeding them. .

That line plowed over 1,000 miles today without a single hiccup until it hit Lake Erie... This thunderstorm warning is odd. States the cell is moving northeast along the lake from Angola? That cluster is almost dead and whatever is left is moving west into Hamburg Boston not into the city... There is a very nice lightning show looking south however. .

An incredible storm complex. This thing has held together all day! .

Let’s see if these can bust through that lake breeze tonight. Could really go for a good thunderstorm! .

Meanwhile upstream... Thunderstorm wind gusts to 105mph!?!?WOW! .

There’s something you don’t see often... Set our MAX and MIN temps for the day 45 minutes apart. Heat advisory was a huge bust on today’s forecast. .

Big time dud! Lost some of its punch crossing the lake but even under those good returns just a 15 minute downpour... .

Looks like BUF is finally going to get a good line of storms! It just had that feeling outside today that the skies were going to let loose. .

Nice! Post a test flight video. What’s the height limit on that? You should be able to get a nice view over the lake from your yard. .

Gotta love these summer breeze boundaries... Just missing Pac-Man in Buffalo harbor gobbling them up... May have lost all their moisture but still a stormy look passing... .

Perfect outside! Well except the rain drops already working in. Still can’t get more than a few hour window of decent weather around here!

Well the snow spotters at ERI were just quoted saying they are not measuring snow by the generally accepted guidelines of 4 measurements every 6 hours... measuring in 3 hour intervals during the day when compression is highest then at an 8 hour interval overnight when compression is less. Also they are summing 5 daily measurements instead of the accepted 4. I believe this should make the data unofficial! .

Something is certainly not right! What are these sudden precip spikes during overcast conditions? How does 15.6" of snow only add 2" to the snow depth?

Keep your eyes on the upstate blog and wait for us all to start losing our $hit in the T minus 5 day range. If your traveling you got to be ready to drop everything and go. We're usually pretty accurate hitting these events but sometimes they do dud out, the big ones sometimes are a surprise. If your hitting the Buffalo area and looking for lodging I recommend the Hamburg area close to I 90. Your right in the middle of it usually and worst case only a 20-30 minute drive to the northern and southern band areas. Ive never chased off Ontario but heard it's quite an experience. Anywhere along 81 from Oswego to Watertown is gold. But you better be prepared for some extreme snow.
