  1. There are some storms over Falls Lake now so hopefully that can help a little.
  2. Definitely still a brutal GFS run through next weekend and perhaps even drier than the previous one. It is not doing anything with the lemon offshore. Falls Lake after yesterday's rainfall. Each tenth would represent 1.2 inches.
  3. There wasn't any improvement worth mentioning for Falls Lake from yesterday. Looks like today is the last chance for about a week for any real rainfall there. We will see how much it drops off during the net heatwave. At least they lowered my forecast high to 105F for Friday lol.
  4. No rain in downtown Raleigh. Just some strong gusts from thunderstorm outflow. Looks like the eastern side of Falls Lake got a bit of rain.
  5. Doughts can create that kind of a feedback loop for sure.
  6. Falls Lake has resumed the steady drop after the rain event we had a few days ago.
  7. This is the highest I have ever seen in my point and click:
  8. As mentioned the drought has largely remained the same since last week's update. With that said with a brutal heatwave coming, this is likely to worsen again and Falls Lake levels are going to drop some more outside of pop up storms. May the odds be ever in our favor. As mentione
  9. Yesterday's rainfall resulted in about a 1 inch rise in Falls Lake water levels. I am guessing it will start dropping again over the next few days.
  10. A solid hit of rain in Raleigh today at least!
  11. Raleigh will put in place level 2 water restrictions once Falls Lake drops to 45% full. According to the graphs at the following link, that happens between 241 and 242 feet. The current forecast suggests that would happen in September but that is basically extrapolation. https://epec.saw.usace.army.mil/falls_summ.htm
  12. The old Wake County Fizzle kicked in.
  13. So much for the cool and rainy El Nino summer. Looks like our drought could get even worse. This was at Falls Lake yesterday (main sections still have water but even that is looking quite shallow in places):
  14. The state of Falls Lake as of 6/21/2026 near Santee Road Point in Durham (Falls Lake is a main source of water for Raleigh).
  15. I woke up and said it is about freaking time!
  16. The severe risk completely busted in NC today
  17. Depending on the eventual Cu field I think RDU is on track for around 103 today. 95F as of the 11am observation.
  18. It sucks out there for sure. I am staying in the house.
  19. Today's update cut back those numbers quite a bit.
  20. NWS has 102 and 101 for Friday and Saturday of next week right now. Ugh sometimes I really hate it here.
  21. It is blazing out there but at least the dewpoint isn't in the 70's.
  22. Well the good news if aurora does appear tonight it won't be cloudy.
  23. Yeah I am just not ready for almost 100F On Sunday.
  24. Before we get stuck with another streak of 90s
