  1. A snow hole at times as you get close to the Sound, and across it into Northern Nassau. 'Hole" is relative cause over a foot is still a lot of snow, but yeah historic level snow is just to the west, NW, and south. Getting a burst right now though with stronger winds, looks like it could drop a quick inch or so.
  2. Hard to measure snow. multiple measurement range from 11" - 18" Around 15" is best estimate. Snow band remains just to the west, and due south. Been in flurries for the last few hours here, but snow starting to pick up some now. That band seems to not want to move east of the Bx River Pkwy so far..
  3. yeah you definitely got into some heavier bands. I near Pelham Bay Park and it seem like it nearly stopped completely for a while. Its picking up now though, might be the heaviest snow I've seen so far.
  4. You're in the west or east side of the Bx?
  5. Near the Sound shore it seem to be some long periods of very light snow, lots of blowing snow though.
  6. For whats its worth, temps look slightly lower that forecast at this time. LGA is 34 instead of upper 30s. If we hold nearly steady today then drop a few tonight we'd be ahead of the game
  7. That was always forecast though. I dont think the forecasts were relying on much acclumation during the day today, especially in the morning. In the bx I started as drizzle to now steady snow but basically white rain for now. I expected rain or white rain for a while today.
  8. That's how these grocery stores must feel. People suddenly woke up to a blizzard warning this morning and pandemonium ensued, with little to no preparation for it.
  9. Snow is melting but fairly slow for mostly sunny and 46F day. That sleet content must have some real staying power.
  10. There is lots of ice on the protected bays and harbors on the Sound shore
  11. Back door cold front season this spring gonna be interesting. Those depressing misty 45 degrees days, knowing its like 70 in Philly and 80 in DC.
  12. Burst of heavy sleet now. Measured about 10" of snow earlier before the changeover. Now a little over 12" of snow and sleet. Tough to move and terrible for snowballs but I'll take it
  13. Heavy sleet in the Bx. 19* Just over 10" of snow before changeover to sleet. Snow removal with significant sleet acclumation is going to be back breaking.
  14. Heavy snow and around 9" on the ground now.
  15. I meant the point and click forecast ppl see, added up was crazy amounts.
  16. Well it is the Post..far from high level journalism. That said, the NWS forecasts right now are showing 18" - 25"+ totals in and around NYC so thats getting into historic range.
  17. Central Park: 0.5" LGA: T JFK: 0.4" EWR: 0.7" Upton NWS: 1.4" Bridgeport: 0.2"
  18. Yeah I think this is what it is. It can officially be over 4", but be hard pressed to find an actual snow depth to match that this morning.
  19. Measured about 3" in Bronx Park E 4" in CPK isn't bad. I couldn't find any 4" spot around here. Anywhere I measured was fairly consistent 2.5" to 3". Maybe areas to the south got into that ocean effect band?
  20. Switched to mainly sleet now in the Bx. Coming down good though. Eyeballing close to 2" of snow/sleet.
  21. In New Rochelle, rain switch to heavy snow. For now, no accumulation grassy surfaces or pavement.
