I don't man, I'm on a hike right now in the D and R greenway... There's like A 4-5" powderish snow on top then a hard layer that I can't even get through with my hiking poles to see the depth. Seems to be at least 6" under the powder that is just frozen like a glacier. I'd be pretty shocked if we see green spots by March at least imby especially if we see more snow tomorrow. This pack has some serious staying power imo, days in the 40s aren't going to melt it in a week. I'll take a pic so you can see what I mean.. there's still a foot of snow here that's pretty much glacierized with the cold temps and freezing rain. Best pack we've had in years, reminds me of being up in new hampshire.

Possible Flood threat March 1- 3? GFS rockets temps to the 60s plus brings 1-2" of heavy rain. Something to keep an eye on with the dense snowpack n and w of 95. Does anyone know where I can find snow water equivalent maps? I'm betting there's at least 1-2" qpf in my snow pack.

What's your low score at Crossgates? I shot a 76 there when I went to school at MU...I'm a 12 handicap so it was a big deal to me. 5 handicap with no lessons or anything is incredible. I take a lesson at the beginning of every year to warm up and get my swing in a good place with someone watching it and I still can't break a 10 handicap.

Mets fans are just as bad... I've been to both cities as a Braves fan.. Phillies fans literally cursed me out/harassed me all game long when I was ten years old... Mets fans ruined a chipper jones jersey of mine because one of their asshole fans chucked a soda at it... I was definitely under 18 for that too. The northeast in general have shitty fan bases. Going to pro sporting events anywhere else in the country is so different than the northeast.

Way too early to say that. March is a weird month, you can have a +nao/+ao/-pna and still get snow.. all it takes is one perfectly tracked bowling ball. It's become pretty rare that we get completely skunked in March. I bet there will be one more 'threat' after this one that comes probably after the first week of March. If not though, still a great winter.

Icon likes it too.. all snow for se pa. Plus check out the euro: Really the nams are the only one that don't give se pa anything.

I might be wrong but I think it's a joke the mets are up there with the Braves. The Braves have a better line up and better pitching, they're clearly the class of the division. Think the Phils/mets/nats are all in that next tier but honestly I see the mets 4th. Phils were a decent team last year besides their bullpen. If the pen is just average this year, I think they'll cruise to 2nd and fight with the braves.

I think this will come down to how cold we end up getting on Sunday night. Places that drop into the low 20s or teens will have a shot at 1-3". Right now that looks like N and W of 95 but with the snow cover in place, there's definitely a shot that immediate burbs could see some accumulation as well since rates seem decent. Don't see this being anything more than white rain for the city and easy of 95.

Have you seen Ken Burns Baseball? One of my favorite sports documentaries.. I have been re watching it this past week to get ready for the season.

That has always been a dream of mine to experience a true new England winter ever since my aunt and uncle moved up to Keene, NH. I go up there for two weeks every winter(except this year) to ski and do other winter activities and I love everything about up there. If I didn't have a state job, I would definitely be interested because I'm probably going to put my house on the market this summer even though I just bought it last year... The housing market here in Mercer county has been insane to the point where I'd be dumb not to sell soon... But unfortunately I still have to live in new jersey or PA that's within a hour of Trenton because I go into the office twice a week. I'm looking at Mt Olive or somewhere similar that has roughly 1000 ft elevation and averages 40-50" a year. Any suggestions for snowiest place in NJ or Pa to move that fits that criteria?

Golfer checking in! Just got my email that my central jersey men's league is starting up first week of April, we had to take last year off so I'm hype to get back on the course! We rotate playing the mercer county courses each week. My favorite pro's are Phil and Bubba because I'm a lefty. I also really like Brooks though, he's a baller and brings a swagger to the game that hasn't really been seen in awhile.

Very sorry to hear about your dad man, that's really awful... My dad is one of my best friends and was my coach too until I made it to Jr. C. He had a major heart attack at 40 too(we were playing paintball)but thankfully he survived. To this day, it's still the scariest moment of my life so far because he was in really good shape so it was a shock to see him like that. Like you said bad genes suck! I hope time has made things a bit easier for you though. I'm just a few years older than you, I'm a super late 1990 and I played for Pennsbury in high school, Warwick Wildcats, and Tristate Selects(Now the Philadelphia Revolution). The rink at West Chester was one of my favorites to play. Made the rinks I played at look like a dump

What happened to the Friday threat? Just up and went poof overnight on all guidance except the ICON. Though last time the icon was on its own, things turned out pretty well(super bowl storm).

Rgem continues to hint at maybe c-2" along 95 n and w(2" are the nw areas). 3km is pretty close to that too. Timing just absolutely blows though! Im rooting for white rain/snow tv at this point.

Same here, I still play adult league at Grundy in Bristol. How old are you? I wonder if we've ever played against one another growing up

Same here, I'm 4 for 4 as well, except I'm 50-50 Phillies/Braves as odd as that is... Basketball has always been my #4 sport though because it was the only sport I didn't play as a kid. I usually would watch 20-25 reg season games but didn't really pay attention until playoffs when I would hop on the bandwagon. Embiid has changed that though. I watch every game he plays now because he is just such a rare talent. Plus his personality is just amazing. For example last night he said this about doing his signature pose even with no fans: “Fans are always there for me when I play, and I always mention that,” he said. “Playing in Philly, I have a lot of pride, and I play for the fans and I play for the city. All my goals when it comes to basketball are related to the city of Philadelphia. I always feel like they’re here with us, even though they’re not. I always feel their presence.” Like how don't you just love the guy? I think they have a legit shot as well because of him. And if Ben can play like he did when Joel was out the other night, the sky is the limit imo with this team. Whoever comes out the west is going to be tough though if they make it. I think they add a shooter or two at the deadline to make a run. Bring back JJ!

Flyers coming up on Sunday in beautiful tahoe kind of inspired this thread but overall lots going on in Philly sports. Wentz gone. Desean gone. Good riddance to both imo... Sixers in 1st place. Embiid for MVP! Flyers generally beating everyone not named Boston. 95 is forever under construction. Discuss here.

Low north of us and precip arrives in the dead afternoon, if this one could get delayed 6 hours we may have a shot... Right now looks like white rain at best like the ICON. I hope the rgem comes true but I have serious doubts.

January 31-February 2, 2021 Major Winter Storm Observations
The Iceman replied to Ralph Wiggum's topic in Philadelphia Region
I feel the same way, this was a historic storm for the region but it didn't feel that way because my backyard got relatively jipped. Was more a MECS imby and while memorable for the length, the intensity wasn't anything special. Would have been sick to be in the ccb like the video. I won't make the mistake again of just staying put and hoping for the best imby, I'm chasing the jackpot if it is within a couple hour drive... Wentzy I'm following you next time -

Wow that's not bad time at all. When I saw how deep that was, I was like damn that's going to take forever to dig out. Glad you made it out okay and that the slide didn't result in anything serious. I've been in similar situations driving a bit too fast for the conditions since I have a jeep and sometimes, also foolishly, think I can handle anything mother nature can throw at me... you live and learn though! Also it was good to see someone stop and offer to help even if you were pretty much done at that point. Pa hospitality can be hit or miss at times -
Picked up an additional 1.5" in Hopewell today.
-
Rgem is 3-6" for se pa on Monday. Someone sell me some hopiates because I want to believe 7" weenie dot over red skys house
-
Yep, I don't see Monday being a deal for anyone outside of the lehigh valley and Poconos. That storm track combined with the time of day just equals fail for everyone else, don't care what the models show. Might be able to start as snow, but I don't see it sticking.

4.5" yesterday brings the total up to 33" in Hopewell. 7.5" yesterday brings the total up to 31" in Levittown. Guess my move didn't make too much of a difference, this year at least 40 inches definitely in play for both areas and I would lean on betting we get it. Seems rare that we get skunked in March of late.

how long did it take you to shovel all that out when you slid off the road? great video man!
