  1. I went to HD and got a 2” 4’ x 8’ insulation board and ordered contact whiteboard paper from amazon to make a whiteboard in my garage. I normally teach in a portable so this won’t be much different except I won’t have to keep telling the kids to put their phones away and stop chatting.
  2. It’s been pouring here for the last 30 minutes. Gusty winds and thunder.
  3. Sardines = bony salt. What’s not to like?
  4. I got woken up as well, but no idea what time. It sounded pretty bad but there was only .20” in the gauge this morning, so it couldn’t have been too rough.
  5. Stop in for a beer when you’re nearby. Give me a heads up and I’ll pour you an oyster stout while we maintain social distancing. Just no more shaking hands with the clients!
  6. That's awesome! I got up at 5:30 today to get to Home Depot at six when they opened, and I had a bandana on. The trouble with bandanas is that if you don't secure them properly, you touch the areas around your face way more often than you normally would. Fortunately, I though this through beforehand, and now I have a nice, new, 4' x 8' x 1.5" insulation board covered with whiteboard contact paper to use in my garage "classroom"
  7. It’s to early in MD to draw any conclusions, but the number of new cases is hopefully a sign of better times.
  8. I’ll echo the kudos for Hogan. I wonder if he thought people would be smart enough to know the seriousness of the situation, but too many people kept gathering forcing his hand. eta: I deleted my previous post. As much as I enjoy reading the political positions of those I feel I have come to know over the years, I understand this isn’t the place for it. Just know that reading your positions, helps me define my positions. Whether I agree with them or not,
  9. I like spectracide broadleaf concentrate with a 1 or 2 gallon sprayer. It’s an inexpensive investment to buy the concentrate and a gallon sprayer, and will save you some money and time if you buy rather than using the pre mixed stuff. I have a small yard (about .22) and it would still be a pain to use the pre mixed spray stuff. Ortho weed b gon is good too, but whatever you end up getting, just be sure that it’s a broadleaf weed killer WITHOUT grass killer. It’ll say on the label, “kills weeds and won’t harm grass.”
  10. They are hardy plants. It may take a little time to adjust and you may not get as many flowers this year, but keep it from drying out and it will do well. Who knows, maybe it was so young that it won't be shocked at all by the move.
  11. I didn’t know this. Thanks for the info and I’ll do some research.
  12. I can’t place it from the leaves. Can you tell what color the flowers are going to be? eta: Regardless of what it is, a broadleaf weed killer will take care of it quickly. I generally spot spray for weeds with a 1 or 2 gallon sprayer, but if it's all over the yard, I'd use a bag of granular stuff. It's also the time of year to put down a pre emergent for crab grass if you haven't done that yet.
  13. I should have just pm’d you when I saw it, but I wasn’t completely sure until I saw the new handle in the covid thread.
  14. Yep, that was one of our "must see" destinations, but we are already hoping to do the trip during the same week next year. It works out well because it is also the same time as the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix bike races. Fortunately, looking forward to and planning the trip is a lot of fun for me, so not going this year is no big deal, especially in light of how serious the situations are around the world.
  15. Echoing everyone else's thoughts and prayers to WxWatcher007 and his family. So sorry for your loss.
  16. Chilly and blustery this morning with low to mid 40’s, but typical spring weather. Today was the day we were supposed to be leaving for the Netherlands and their tulips, and Belgium for their beer, but for now, this photo from the front yard and a St. Bernardus from the fridge will have to do. Maybe next year we can experience the real deal.
  17. If I had a train and a lit flare, I know where I’d want to crash it.
  18. Nice discussion. I like that we can have differing opinions and present them respectfully. It’ll make the corn hole games at this summer’s meet-up all the more entertaining. It seems like this has been a common in the UK too.
  19. Me too. I've got an "old" yard and there are a lot of uneven areas that I've thought about trying to fix. I don't even mind if its a two or three year project, but I'm not sure when or how to go about it.
  20. There are a couple of wandering prophets that I see from time to time around Bmore when I’m running errands, and generally, when I see them, the best thing for me to do is to simply ignore them and don’t get engaged. Time to put that to practice here.
