  1. It's a bunch of malarkey, you dog-faced pony soldier. I'm hip to you.
  2. Bright and sunny on Randolph Hill but still socked in with clouds down in Berlin.
  3. That's an old Larry Cosgrove joke. His forecasts always use these obscure tiny towns and place names as boundaries for different forecasts. Instead of just saying "northern Ohio and PA" Larry will list the three most obscure towns in the region and then say "north of a line between them." It's one of the silly things that blowhard does. My post was the equivalent of Cosgrove saying it will only be winter in Canada.
  4. Extended forecast says hot summer is dead here.
  5. Tolland, CT seems like a dangerous place to live. Excessive heat, overwhelming humidity, dangerous tropical storms, and extended power outages. I applaud the brave pioneers who attempt to tame that savage land.
  6. We bought season passes for Cannon and Bretton Woods. Weekdays only.
  7. I can't possibly hope to compete with Tolland, CT in terms of perceived drought and humidity; I bow to the king.
  8. I forget, did you move there? Where is it? We bought this house in April. I will be here most of the winter. I am back and forth through the summer and fall. House is at 1,500 ft in Randolph, NH.
  9. It's something different almost every evening, depending on cloud cover, etc. I am setting up a public camera pointed at it, hopefully by tomorrow; I will share the link here.
  10. The grass over the drain field finally filled in.
  11. The foliage here is getting that "tired" look. The bright pop is all gone. It's not drought. Plenty of rain here in July. Winter is coming.
  12. Winter will only exist north of a line from Siam, OH, to Woodcock, PA, to Constable, NY.
  13. It might be easier for you to just list the couple of topics you find acceptable for an OT banter thread.
  14. They are literally telling you that your actions as a parent in trying to help your children get ahead are creating inequalities in society. How is that acceptable to you as a parent? Sure, you can ignore it, but these are the people setting the curriculum for the school. It’s crazy.
  15. Weird that you cut off part of the quote while posting part of it. ”While FCPS doesn’t and can’t control these private tutoring groups, we do have concerns that they may widen the gap in educational access and equity for all students. Many parents cannot afford private instruction. Many working families can’t provide transportation to and from a tutoring pod, even if they could afford to pay for the service.” If you are ok with this agenda-driven guilt trip, that’s your prerogative. Makes me wonder what the school district is saying behind closed doors.
  16. Plug those ears, MA forum! Quick someone post a pic of dinner or a beer.
  17. I read the actual statement.
  18. The statement they made was that it is unfair for some parents to use tutors or these “pods” because other students lack those opportunities. It creates inequality. You good with that?
  19. I had far more down here in MD than usual. They are all pretty small but they are out there. Seems like a big year for them.
  20. Wonder when school districts will start trying to restrict homeschooling in the name of "fairness" for all students (i.e., all students must be at the same level of dumb at all times)? https://thefederalist.com/2020/08/11/fairfax-public-schools-tell-parents-to-stop-educating-their-kids-while-school-is-banned/
  21. I have an old cheapo 10,000 watt generator and I have never had an issue running computers off of it. They are not that sensitive unless you are talking about scientific or ham radio equipment. I assumed you were talking about regular laptops and such. Just get a good surge protector.
  22. Temps look really nice for the next 14 days. Mid 70s for highs and mid 50s for lows, in general. Nice and seasonal.
  23. I know a scientist who works at NIH and the word internally there seems to be that the vaccines being hyped now have a very low chance of being generally effective across the global population. They may work in some limited capacity, perhaps offering some people a degree of immunity for a few months. There is a reason it takes 10 years to develop a successful vaccine that sees widespread use. I think people have been misled into believing a good vaccine is only a few months away.
  24. Might slow down the riots and shootings in Chicago for a bit.
