  1. I am thankful for the lower dew points and the occasional breeze today. The next time that we don’t get above 85 will feel like a cool snap!
  2. He has been getting all of the rain this summer! It would be nice if he would share some with @Bubbler86 & @Cashtown_Coop
  3. Thanks for the update, but no thanks to all of this Heat! I can’t wait until September. Only a little over 40 days to go!
  4. I agree, in certain times moving the goalposts can lead to a mess depending on the business or the situation. Should someone get a speeding ticket if they are going 56 mph in a 55 mph zone? In business, I certainly understand. If you are a salesperson, and your goal is to sell 100 items, but you only sold 99, then you had a decent month, but you did Not meet your goal. “Close” would not get you the bonus money that month. Here, we are merely talking about the weather and the message that needs sent in regard to perception of the forecast by the general public. I think that most people would rather be Advised or Warned if we are very “close” to the criteria of extreme heat, cold, snow or severe thunderstorm. If people see or hear “Advisory” or “Warning”, then they can make better decisions to protect their life or property.
  5. Their old motto says that their priority is to “protect life & property”. I fully understand criteria & evaluation based on solid numbers. Sometimes “close enough” is directly on point to accomplish a goal. Does the general public know the difference between a Heat Index of 98 versus 102? It is HOT & Dangerous for certain activities...they should do what they can to put the word out. These Advisories & Warnings get the attention of people.
  6. I realize that there is criteria, but I think that they should follow the spirit of the law instead of the letter of the law more often. I understand that they need to draw a line somewhere, but they should at least try to coordinate more with their regional border offices. I also find it interesting that at least the entire LSV is not in the Advisory, especially when all of the MD border counties (except for Garrett) have one posted. It is like not putting up a Winter Storm warning because they forecast 5 inches of snow instead of 6. Is it better for them to follow their criteria to “win” that battle, instead of adhering to their main purpose of warning the public of extreme weather?
  7. Let’s play a game, find CTP on this map...we must be on the cool island here.
  8. I see that CTP decided to put up a Heat Advisory for only a small part of the LSV...? No Advisory for me, @sauss06 or @Bubbler86 , so we should be nice and cool over here with no concerns for excessive heat! Somehow, there is a Heat Advisory for the southern tier counties of NY, but only a few counties in CTP seem to qualify?
  9. @MAG5035 Is there any hope for this terrible heat pattern breaking down any time soon?
  10. I’m a little surprised that CTP does not have a Heat Advisory posted for this weekend. Mt. Holly has Advisories posted for the counties that border CTP.
  11. Yes, those of us from around the river on west would have been really frustrated yesterday if this was a Winter coastal storm! Some of us would have had a car topper while others not too far away would have been buried in heavy snow!
  12. Yes, that was interesting here as well yesterday along the river in Marysville. We had some light to moderate showers that did not add up too much. You could see some blue sky to the west while the clouds were rotating.
  13. 30 or 40 inches of snow next season would be great to go along with some cold temps too! Heck, after the total failure of last year, 20 inches of snow next season might even seem awesome!
  14. @sauss06 My family went to Dairy Queen in Summerdale last night around sunset. We were treated to a local fireworks show that appeared to be launched from several yards in the area! I was wondering if you were one of those putting on a fireworks show from your yard?
  15. Lol! I only think that they measure snow wrong when MDT records less snow than my yard!
  16. Yes, same here. The precip in west central PA fizzled out last evening before reaching even the western LSV. It sounds like we have another chance of a shower or storm by early this afternoon.
  17. A heavy shower rolled through here in the last couple of hours. Yet another day with no watering needed for the plants or garden this week!
  18. Maybe next season we will get a top 10 good snow season to make up for this year!
  19. Franklin & Adams really must have missed out on the rain that most of us had over the last couple of months.
