As @MAG5035 said, the 18z GFS gets us some Super Bowl Sunday snow in southern PA.

@losetoa6 is busy in the Mid Atlantic thread working on reeling in the Valentines Day snow storm!

If Valentine’s Day snow doesn’t work out, then the 0z GFS gives us another chance on President’s weekend.

They had the most in depth info of anything that most of us had access to back then. Many great forecasters on there that I learned a ton from when I was growing up.

Yes! I forgot about the weather phone #. I remember the days leading up to the Blizzard of 93 calling that phone# several times per day!

It’s good to know that there are many like us on this weather board. I used to watch the local news and flip around trying to catch all 3 weather reports when I was in middle & high school. Weather World was a must watch every day during the Winter at 5:45 pm. The trusty old Weather radio also was a must listen a few times per day during the Winter, and even more when storms were in the short term. The Weather Channel was also great back in the 90’s as a go to before the Internet really took over towards the turn of the century. I used to look at newspaper forecast pages from various papers when I would stop by a convenience store to try to get any weather info. The internet changed everything with more information from various platforms; including forecaster blogs and our own access to the weather models.

No harm meant by my lol… I forgot about your early season preference. We all enjoy & prefer our snow in different ways which makes this hobby fascinating.

18z GFS Kuchera snow through Valentine’s Day.

Yes indeed, happy hour 18z GFS joined the Valentine’s Day snowstorm party.

We also had over 1 foot of snow in March of 17, 18 & 19.

I’ve erased that disaster from my memory!

12z Canadian has a storm on Valentines Day as well, so at the least the Euro is not alone.

Yes….one of these times it will be right….right? I really want the old king to regain his crown at some point! CTP is due.

A light snow shower passed through over the last hour that gave a dusting.

MDT is only 5 inches below normal through yesterdays date. Still lots of time make up ground with almost 2 full months of realistic chances to snow. Our snow results so far are frustrating, but it’s not like really good snow has been far away over the last month. CTP has just missed the jackpot in every direction. 100 miles in either direction of Harrisburg has a little more snow. It’s just been a result of storm tracks that have put us just out of the good snow zone. It’s bad luck…which means that we are due for our turn to score snow!

My temp in Marysville dropped to 32 between 7 and 8am and dropped slowly through the day to the current 29 degrees. Precip picked back up mid morning and the cars and most non treated surfaces had a light glaze of ice that slowly built throughout the day. Then mid afternoon we had a sleet shower for about 1 hour that coated all surfaces. Maybe next storm it will be our turn to cash in on good snow? We are due! Every other direction of CTP has been in the bullseye this year. Next time… it’s ours!

0z GFS freezing rain & sleet.

I just turned on the Weather Channel and the ice was nasty in Memphis & Dallas.

The 0z NAM INCREASED the ice amounts for the Harrisburg area on BOTH the 12k & 3k. The 12k NAM has .45 of ice & the 3k has .47 for Harrisburg. Temps should crash by 7 am according to the 12k NAM.
