The whole weekend in general was favorable for areas that have the tendency to get screwed, you know that the cold-air drainage in the lowest levels is impressive when people like Mitch from Vermont start commenting about how the valley areas we're receiving higher snowfall amounts then some of the surrounding mountains. The cold air was wedged in so well in The valleys that we didn't have to depend on advecting in colder air from higher up or radiational cooling.
Zr mixed with sleet. Well see how much heavy precip we get here as just plain zr. Places that have been pouring zr for the past couple hours will likely get more accretion than here.
Haven't measured. Been fighting a nasty cold so waiting till I have to go out and cleanup. Plows just came by and the piles and eyeballing looks around 5" ish.
Concerns about possible power problems. Don't get me wrong I like a good icing event but not anything too crazy with the projected weather we have coming in.
We need at Messenger bump SE or its lights out for some. CTRV CAD would likely save me from a torch but siggy ice may be slipping away. Well see what happens from here.
I could see 8 or 9 here 2 miles south of the MA line followed by a prolonged scalping and a thin glaze of ZR. Mid-level warmth keeps me leary of going into double digits. Hopefully the high provides a bit more resistance and the mid-levels trend a bit colder.
It is impressive, no pack or good radiating here so probably 8 or 9 above which is not earth shattering for January Definitely getting a bit frustrating down here but better times appear on the horizon. Might have to make my second trip of the season up to SVT to find the kids and myself some snow over the weekend.
Best wishes Steve. Its s hard cold world out there at times but what goes around comes around. Smart, hardworking and honest people like you adapt and do well with whatever challenges are presented. I'm sure your next endeavor will be successful.
The cold isn't exactly thrilling when we've been looking at brown bare ground 99.9% of the past 6 weeks down here. When the cold is reinforcing a fresh pack it's certainly more appealing.
In all honesty Don, the snowfall measurement for Bos should be somewhere in the 2 to 3 inch range. Even meteorologists in here have discussed how BOS is having an issue finding reliable and available people to do their measurements and that number is not accurate. Perhaps a list of <3" would be most accurate.
Best wishes. I took off 60 pounds last year and nothing feels better. Commit to it and it will happen. Try not to stay up all night salivating over day 10 H5 GFS or late night Euro runs and get off routine.
