He'd be thrilled to. But I agree with him. Now that models shifted back east some this morning...this is not a NE storm at all. Was fun to fantasize and speculate for a day/few hours. But I wouldn't be hoping this comes back west "Enough." We had our brush with tropical back on August 5th....that should do it for another decade or so.
-
Ya, for NS.
-
You gotta play the odds...99% of the time it’s a whiff. This is no different, even if the track is very anomalous like it’s showing. And that track is much closer to Atlantic Canada, which modeling has shifted back to this morning. Don’t waste anymore time hoping...like Scott said he’s gone.
-
Well at least it’s interesting currently, if nothing else? All we can ask for at the moment.
-
Lmao...now that was good!! And Thats when it was a really good model.
-
It’s the Hype...without the hype it’s not as much of a disappointment. But when the big guns are telling ya to watch out...and then things aren’t lining up so well, it makes you realize that we don’t know as much as we may think? Just like last winter in SNE...it was being forecast as a potential humdinger, and it was a full on Ratter. The combo of the hype and then the Rat is a double whammy lol.
-
Unfortunately, it's the Shear that is most likely going to make this season more unimpressive than anything else. It's killing/keeping down most everything that tries to get going. It's active, but being hugely suppressed by the shear it seems.
-
Lol..agree! But don’t say that over in the tropical headquarters...the peeps there go crazy when posts like that show up. It’s been a crazy year according to some over there cuz we’re on the “O” named storm. Lol.
-
I’ll take a normal winter, and be very happy. Doesn’t have to be anything fabulous, Average/normal works great around here.
-
Absolutely Agree!
-
What’s skewing the season so far, is the “Build Up.” Anytime all the talk and hype precedes a season (be it hurricane or winter etc etc), it gets folks envisioning their wildest dreams with monster storms galore all over the place. when that doesn’t happen/Or live up to the hype as they imagine it...well, you get the bust calls.
-
It’s just the next iteration of the same POS!
-
Wow...that’s a big PRE look for NE no..? Of course assuming that is to be taken verbatim? Which is a big IF???
-
Well to be accurate...Isaias was a tropical storm when it came into/just west of SNE, but your point is well taken. We’ll see in a couple weeks?
-
This! Hyped periods have a knack for not delivering the goods in the world of Meteorology at times. Last winter in SNE is a very recent example of this idea. Not saying it doesn’t get hyper active, just that if it doesn’t it won’t be a surprise imo at all.
-
You are stoked Floydbuster...we will see.
-
Well, if it’s going to be as active and anomalous as it’s predicted to be...then the shear and the dry air better be going away pretty soon!?
-
Last year looked good going in...and ended up bring a total Ratter! I’ll gladly take a look that doesn’t look all that conducive going in, and then have it end up delivering around average snow in SNE. There’s nothing wrong with that at all. Like Ginxy said...nobody knows.
-
It can shut off as quick as it started too...we’ve seen that before also. Nothing is a certainty.
-
Some impressive gusts here, 50+ mph , with some trees down around town, and some without power. It was impressive while it lasted(30-45 min), but the duration was so short that it made it only mediocre here imo. Although Definitely better than Irene and Sandy were here though. What do you think the odds are we here in SNE can get another crack at a Cane this season? Pretty low I’d think...but I guess you never know?
-
Has she seen the Poseidon Adventure lol?
-
It’ll be over before you know it.
-
The 30-45 minutes that it lasted was not meh, but the duration was definitely Meh. So goes tropical in SNE. Like others have said...a direct hit by a Cat 2 or 3 would be insane. Just a matter of time I suppose..?
-
Had about a half hour-maybe 45 minutes of impressive winds here...heard some trees snapping and collapsing..alot of debris all over. The 30 minutes or so that it lasted was exciting. Calmed down currently. If that’s pretty much the end(?), then it was a very brief window of some excitement.

So far nothing to write home about...
