  1. Article on Chaff, never heard of this before until now... https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/25438/huge-chaff-cloud-that-lit-up-radars-as-it-drifted-across-the-midwest-remains-a-mystery
  2. How rare is that snow out in the west right now, im not familiar with their climate but it seems rather unusual.
  3. "The two large streaks are chaff from Canadian military activity over Quebec. There are also showers over New Brunswick." Got an answer^
  4. Thats why i posed the question. I remember the fires from 9/11 in NYC on radar and they were much smaller than this. The only reason that came to mind was the direction of the plumes follows the wind direction and the way its wiggling back and forth looks like it would be smoke.
  5. What do you mean he left? His user name is still there he just hasnt posted in a few days. Anyone know whats going on with CARs radar? Is there a fire in Canada?
  6. im closer to the shore, too much mixing here only looking at 5-8" of pollen
  7. how much snow is left up there? can you post a screenshot of that snowdepth graph you did about a week ago, curious
  8. Wow, Bangor hit a max of 88F today, nowhere near the record of 96F though
  9. Snooze. Living in southern CT, May 18 will probably be the biggest thing i see in my lifetime. And even that wasn't really a big deal here.
  10. With severe in New England it's more like 100X bitten, once verified, always shy.
  11. Well we had a severe thunderstorm warning with hail in the same counties that were under winter storm warnings this season.
  12. i posted the snowfall map for the May 9th event in the obs thread. If anyone has any additional reports i can add them. Thanks.
  13. Normally i wouldn't create a map for such little snowfall but under the circumstances i felt like it was justified. Rare May snow. Not many reports to go off of so i did the best with what i had.
  14. It's snowing here as well, not graupel or mixed r/s or mangled flakes, light snow and flurries. And it's 44F. About the warmest i've ever seen snow. I think i've seen it closer to 50F before but i cant confirm the exact temp.
  15. How rare is this for northern Maine? I feel like ive seen snow plenty of times in maine up there. The records are pretty low for CAR, for any given date in the first half of may.
  16. whats wrong with dec 2020? writing off next winter already?
