  1. yeah but at least it's not Indiana.
  2. i'm glad this isn't just me. you literally can't take a cold shower here from like May through early October.
  3. yep that's what happens. first freeze (at least since i've moved back to DC) seems to be that 2nd/3rd week of Nov (looks like that'll be the case this year as well). But then below freezing temps are still pretty infrequent until after Christmas, so they come back. Urban areas of the metro really only have like 6-8 weeks where temps reliably get below freezing, which is kind of insane. By late Feb/March the mosquitos are back lol.
  4. downtown we deal with those mf'ers until near Christmas these days. it's ridiculous.
  5. gotta wonder when was the last time that DCA had a higher max in November vs October.
  6. lol why does DC proper have a frost advisory? It's still in the low 50s out.
  7. Below 70F here in the west end for the first time in about a month. DCA still holding strong in the low-mid 70s.
  8. 95/78 rn downtown as the storms approach - looks like i had 100/78 earlier this afternoon. brutal.
  9. 85/76 at the 10am ob for DCA. Toasty.
  10. DCA at 86/77 - brutal. 90/77 here downtown.
  11. Looks like around 2:25pm I had a 96/80 reading. LOL.
  12. we've gotten like 10" of rain here since around July 1
  13. getting absolutely hammered with rain downtown - well over 1" now.
  14. they really should relocate the official DC obs back to somewhere in the District.
  15. pretty cool shot of how the local UHI works in the urban core:
  16. look, what do we do well around here?? Heat and catastrophic amounts of rain over a short timeframe on a very localized level. We've already knocked out the latter several times this season. We gotta go big with the heat.
  17. it's kind of insane that lows in the upper 70s are now pretty routine in the urban areas from DC to NYC from late June through August. And around here a couple 80+ lows are now mostly an annual occurrence.
  18. some of the worst climate deniers come from the meteorological community itself
  19. probably a lock for a couple nights of 80F+ as well with the lack of storms. We will probably have quite the extended period of 75F+ temps as well (low overnight in DC was 77F).
  20. gust front from nearby storms just rolled through - actually quite pleasant now (82/72)
  21. 90/78 here as well. This is air you can REALLY feel lol.
  22. river keeping the dews down a bit at DCA (88/74) but it's 88/77 here downtown.
  23. about 3.5" here downtown, so not as much as DCA but it was pouring overnight. Drainage is extremely good around here though so we almost never have any flooding (everything just flows into Rock Creek and the Potomac).
