Wasn't quite as nice here but nice enough for a ride up Mt Washington. Still one tiny patch of snow to be found...

LOL, brutal, just brutal. I’m guessing you tried that novel approach that PF mentioned of just opening and closing various windows and doors to regulate the temperature of the house? I tried it last night and it seemed like it worked.
Haha no I’m lazy. I have the thermostat set to 72. It automatically switches from heat to ac.

Nice Alex. At least you don't have to invest in AC at the Moose Lodge and Cabins!
Oh no way. All the cabins have central air! Doubles as heat pumps down into the teens so it’s actually pretty awesome

BTV honking for heat later this week...
Remember they are talking about the Champlain Valley torch spots but even still, that's a hot forecast with the usual mountain towns reduction.
&& Long term /Wednesday through Sunday/... as of 334 PM EDT Sunday...continued consistent signals in the models for above normal temperatures in the mid to upper 80s with the potential for a few 90 degree days mid to late week. The next real chance for precipitation looks to arrive on Friday as subtle shortwave energy and sufficient moisture approach the area. Definitely looking like a hot, muggy day Friday as dewpoints approach 70 degrees with temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90.
Our forecast is 75-80 all week. Just about perfect.

This question is mostly for Tamarack. When does White Pine pollen peak? I would think it should have been everything is running so late. Everything coated here. I have been mostly able to keep all the windows closed this whole month with temps each day in the 60's to mid 70's. House guests this week and warmer temperatures mean I want to open windows wide. Is peak about over? Assume it has a ways to go in extreme northern areas.
It's mostly done here... But there are very few white pines here, mostly red spruce and balsam fir

Last year we started some Lupine by seed. Started the plants indoors and mid-summer they were big enough to put along the stone wall right across the road from our house. They came back up this year. Gave them some Miracle Grow earlier this spring and they have taken off. Not quite at peak but getting close.
Very nice! Mine are still budding. I posted last week how there were no lupines at the Lupine Festival in Sugar Hill this year. Kinda sad, it's very pictoresque but it was nothing but green lawns this year.

Alex, just sent you an email but I would bet these are the famous NNE black flies. Much smaller than house flies, really look like gnats. Swarm to the point you can't go outside. In your eyes, up your nose, swallowing them. I always heard Mother's Day to Father's Day is blackfly season in NH. The black fly season is over in S NH and is now ending in my area of Central NH but your cold spot is even further behind. Wear the screen headgear or shirts, we have to for a week or so until they pass. There awful things and bite like crazy
Totally right. The next question is... this is my third summer here, why is it that it’s the first time I notice them???
-
Hey peeps. Question. We are under attack by these stupid little bugs I've never seen before. Even my poor dog is full of bites. Daycare is keeping the kids inside because of them. WHAT ARE THEY??? And most importantly... when will they be gone??? They are awful! And I'm not sure what they are. They look almost like a tiny beetle... bigger than a gnat but much small than a fly. Any ideas???

We were at 36 this morning and already down to 44. Hope we don't freeze.
-
Gorgeous day today made it to 78 after a low of 36 - a 42 degree swing!
Went to the Lupine Festival in Sugar Hill and ironically... Not a single lupine is flowering yet! Kinda funny. Things are definitely behind schedule.

Mostly. I like cool weather but I do miss real summer weather sometimes. We really only get a few days a year of it. Warm nights are really rare.

78.3F as a high. First really warm feeling day. First day over 75F. Last time it was this warm was Oct 10 2018 about 7 1/2 months ago. Wonder when I will hit 80F? No time soon.
And now a freeze warning. Grrr
