  1. We start the New Year with a Winter Storm Warning. That's gotta be a good omen
  2. Don’t forget the sun angle. Been increasing for days.
  3. I agree. Lots of people but it doesn't feel unsafe at all; of course, I never go into the lodge except for the Club (the "bubble") and the new one at top. But even up there the tables are spaced well, I don't see much of an issue. BWC is totally worth it if you can fit it in your budget. I love being able to store my stuff there - and the boots are nice and toasty when you get in them, and while I didn't care of skipping lines before having kids since we always just skied midweek, now with kids it makes a huge difference. They do have a bit of a waiting lists - friends of ours had to wait about a year, but it probably is different now.
  4. Skiing was actually really fun today; fast, slick but not at all icy. Long lines at the lifts though... makes the Bretton Woods Club worth every penny! @PhineasC if you ski BW a lot you should definitely consider it. Too bad that the natural base is so bad. Next week would have been a great ski week otherwise - fresh snow, and perfect temperatures... Hopefully we get enough to open some more natural trails and glades up.
  5. Same here. The overnight snow turned to slop. Just another FU from 2020 lol
  6. Coming down nicely. Looks like about 1/2"
  7. Actually picked up fast, already a solid coating on the shoveled area of the deck
  8. Can we start a petition? We need that run to verify. I’m craving the glades! Glade West opened last week but of course closed back up after the rainstorm. Bretton Woods is not the same without the glades... oh and I love snow.
  9. The wind is another fascinating microclimate thing in the mountains. It always does its own thing!
  10. I actually have a good feeling about this one too. Not that that means anything!
  11. The wunderground radar that shows on my PWS actually seems to be the best around here too... NWS' is unusable for upslope
  12. What's with this weather? I thought it was supposed to clear out but it's been getting more and more intense. It's almost like a squall now
  13. Pretty persistent waves of upslope today. And man it's cold! The conditions at the mountain were quite good but the kids could only handle 4 runs before they started getting really cold.
  14. My perception of last season was that it was a lot of cutters, but unlike this last cutter, they still mostly resulted in a net gain - similar to how the "thing" coming up this weekend is currently forecasted. So while it wasn't a nice straight mostly snow series of storms, and not a ton of upslope, we did get a decent amount of synoptic even if it was punctuated by rain. Of course, it seemed like a downer compared to the previous season, when glades were open by Thanksgiving and stayed open till closing day
  15. Woke up to a random 2” of unexpected snow!
  16. CCBs tend to work out much better up here because they are usually a N or NW wind, which gives us a nice orographic enhancement. I’ve seen plenty of storm where the CCB/upslope gave us most of the QPF (usually large storms where the first half down slopes/disappoints and then when everyone else is game over the fun begins for us)
  17. That actually happens quite a bit here after a cutter. Snowpack in areas down the notch and even down in Bartlett or Conway tends to survive much better. It’s usually very little loss down there but it looks like crap from the rain, vs a big loss here but it looks much better from the few inches of follow-up upslope
