You know when you just need a little something to go right...just a little bit, a tiny bit of anything...but life just keeps kicking you while you're down...

Well, my Guinea Pig is not doing well at all. I am doing supportive feeding every 4 hrs. So far, his spirit seems intact...though sooner or later it may progress to a quality of life issue...and while being in between jobs means i can feed him every 4 hrs, I cant stay unemployed forever...so the other option is to find a rescue or shelter and surrender him into palliative care...

Im fine with life kicking me to the ground, but I really have a hard time dealing with life being cruel to helpless animals...

What turn of events life has taken...sigh...

That really sucks, my thoughts go out to you. Watching animals go is really difficult. I lost my 8 year old beagle to cancer 2 years ago and it was the hardest thing to see a little innocent creature being destroyed by an awful disease. I was extracting pee out of him every few hours to keep him alive in his final days but as Ginxy said, there comes a time when we have to let go, as hard as it is. He passed with in my arms with his face in a bowl of ice cream, I will never forget that. And of course I start tearing up just thinking about it.

Man you guys got smoked good. That’s awesome. 2’ packs. What a crazy gradient.

It's great that we've had a decent winter so far in spite of December, and that we managed to maintain a decent pack in spite of the ridiculousness of that month. I do hope you guys get in on the action soon though.

Think he means in the wind. A snowboard won't do you any good. Take ten measurements in the most undrifted areas and average, of course you need to measure in a cleared area unless you take depth measurements religiously.

Just saw this. Makes sense and in line with what I was thinking. The stake would probably be my best option except that it's completely caked at the moment and it would also not account for settling. I'm curious about what it's at... Looks around 2 ft or so from what's left of it. It's a deep pack for sure at this point

Use a snowboard. White piece of plywood or anything that is white essentially. Read up here for more

That talks about a snowboard but doesnt say what it is or how you build one. I imagine a board would not be good in windy conditions, since snow will just blow off of it. It seems the idea of taking measurements in various spots would be the way to go based on that article, but I need some flat ground level spots to clear... My deck is not a good choice as it gets wind and snow from the roof so it could severely underestimate or overestimate

Definitely was thinking of you and your wind storms... ha I'm wandering around in thigh deep snow thinking, "Now I know how Scooter and those guys feel when they are trying to measure snow in an E.Mass blizzard."  I mean, no real confidence in the storm total but if I had to venture the closest thing to an estimate it would be 19" at 1,500ft in the past 36 hours.  Something like 5" yesterday, 7" overnight and 7" today... but honestly, who the f'ck knows.  If someone were to say 16" or 24" they could probably make a decent case for either, lol.

How do you measure snow at times like this? If snowed all day but I think we only got a couple of inches (I wrote down 1.5) but honestly, I have no idea. That's based on the grill shelves which I cleared this morning but it's been blowing all over the place. Is there a methodology to get an accurate measurement when it's like this?
