This is a proud defense...they probably said the same thing you did to each other, lol They are dominant--but not today. Bad day, not an indictment on the season. But I misunderstood what you meant by effort I though you meant they just weren't trying. I agree that it was a bad showing today. Bad decision not using Keaton. Where I disagree with folks is that this somehow spells doom for the season. Not really...we don't know how this is gonna shake out, because we haven't had this kind of a team during Lamar's tenure. I'd rather go with the flashes a greatness we've seen in the victories this year and see how things come together down down stretch.

What that was him??? Boooooooo. How about we not draft anybody with the last name Cleveland anymore, lol Now I don't like effort accusations...because on winning teams they are rarely ever true. It's one thing if the other team plays better than you, but it's another to say they didn't try. This is a proud team...just were not good enough today. And after winning 4 straight I'm not about to say "here we go again" as if we didn't play well for the other 7 wins we have, lol It's one loss! Now injuries on the other hand...yeah not having those three Thursday is way less than ideal. Burrow is gonna attack Ya-Sin like crazy...we'll see.

But hang on though...didn't we have a drought in 2002? I remember looking at rainfall totals and the corresponding winters back in that rainy 2018 we had. Turns out the wettest years preceded less snowy winters, oddly enough.

Not all eruptions are the same...I'd imagine it's only the explosive ones that impact weather.

At last we have a breakthrough of understanding of the psychology of some of these posts But ya see, that alone doesn't work...if things don't work out you're STILL disappointed. And lowering expectations doesn't work either, btw. Like watching a team you love that regularly screws things up...it's still gonna hurt if they come so close to winning but find a to choke. Like you know your team's propensity to do that...yet deep down you can't stop hoping. Then they let you down and it still kinda hurts. That's what the last 8 years have been like. This is why I don't get why people don't understand why the posting has been more negative. Like...HELLO? You measured snow lately?? Lol I learned last winter that when things suck, the only real relief is to just not think about it as much. By February I was on here and the model sites less and less. That way the only reminder I got was on the news when the weather came on. I'd fuss and fume...and then that'd be it. Same technique I'd use while the Orioles were absolutely awful from 2018-2021. Lessen the exposure...lol

I think that drives many a negative post here...sarcastically negative to protect against disappointment. It's a natural mechanism (albeit not a healthy one)

They're still better passers than a year ago. All we have to be is just good enough in that area! And actually...I can see us even getting better down the stretch. Overall, we have a very balanced team.
-
Also...can we take a few moments and just admire what this defense is doing? This may be the greatest defense we've had since 2000. Wow
-
One of the BEST. I mean we now could have two explosive backs in our backfield that were UFAs P.S. I won't be mad if he takes Justice Hill's spot, lol
-
Yeah Dobbins was just some bad luck...It was a fantastic 2nd round pick talent-wise...just the dang injuries.

Terpeast's 2023-24 Winter Outlook - Overall Grade: C
Maestrobjwa replied to Terpeast's topic in Mid Atlantic
And the one Niño wasn't even a legit nino...so having 5 of the last 7 years be your historically least conducive ENSO certainly did not help, even with some of the other stuff going on. It'll be good to get a good niño to see where we're at overall. -
Stop. Unless there's something currently to suggest we may not, why even go there?

I continue to believe OBJ's time is later in the season and the playoffs when it matter most. And Zay may not be a No. 1 (yet) but could have legit potential to be one. Bateman...yes, health! That's a gamble...but gotta see what you have. But notice...while you could find a flaw with them individually (I mean Zay's main thing is just being a rookie, not exactly a "flaw")...these receivers together present a legitimate threat. I would bet my next paycheck receiver is not at the top of the list. This is in no way a desperate enough receiver situation where a trade is a necessity (besides the room is already packed, lol) We invested a LOT in that area through both the OBJ signing and drafting Zay. We are not about to invest more draft capital for that, imo I mean it was THE focus of our off-season after all. Our fanbase has a bottomless want of a "true No. 1" (and I get that given our history)--listen, this is the best receiver room we have ever had overall (not like they had a lot of competition, lol) I believetThis group as a unit can get it done in the playoffs...and again, OBJ is a sleeper for the postseason if you ask me.
-
I think we're good at receiver. Agholor is not a main reciever...he's one of a group. Even with his inconsistencies, this is the best situation for him...because if he has issues, the others can pick it up. I am concerned about him in the clutch, yes...but it's not so bad we need another receiver. I mean for crying out loud we got Zay, Bate, AND OBJ along with Andrews. We need to focus on maybe running back or an extra pass rusher.

Alright, since it's still the "off-season" so let's have an honest discussion on this. What I haven't understood about either of your perspectives is...after 8 straight years of mediocrity, why do you expect the discussion to be more positive? And "negative before things happen"...well I mean, like watching a team have an awful season.. negative result after negative result will do that. Is it really a mystery? Is it realistic to expect people to be all positive during this drought? Or is it more...Yeah I get why folks are feeling negative...but they should just shut up about it? Lol
-
I'm not sure we can say with any certainty it's our best shot. Since things don't seem to work the way they used to...I'm reading everything Saud and it seems like a ton if uncertainty to me about if this acts like a nino, fully couples, etc etc... That being said, I think it's safe to say we'll get more than last year, lol
