  1. WJZ labeled this as a "Nor'Easter"...isn't that a bit inaccurate? Or does it technically fit that definition despite...what we'll be seeing, lol
  2. With so many in this forum dealing with a similar thing it would be good group therapy right here. I've been saying that the Panic Room didn't really accomplish much...but if there were another thread to kinda air out the reasons behind how some of us are...it may help more.
  3. I would suggest for some of you to just let this one go and go back into LR tracking. Still things to monitor there
  4. Yeah you are on that has mastered that department...but others ain't there yet. I mean I don't know whether some choose to need it to snow, or if the need is ingrained coming from something deeper. I mean I suppose you could get up one day and choose not to NEED it to snow...but I'm not sure it's that east either--especially if you're not sure why. I don't think you get a slew of depressed posts if there wasn't some level of NEEDING it to snow. Forgive me...got my Sigmund Freud glasses on today, lol
  5. I don't think it's intentional...I think it's legit depression over snow.
  6. I was thinking about this whole thing of the depressed posts and such...and this question came to me: Do we want it to snow, or do we also NEED it to snow? I think that's a question some of us need to as ourselves. Wanting? Good! But needing it to could point to a deeper issue that needs to be addressed.
  7. @psuhoffman Got a couple questions about your post: So if that the problem we're seeing with Sunday's mixed mess? Not enough confluence? Or was is something else involved too? Is there a reason why "this type" of storm can cut? I guess this question might be one more for one of the zoom chats...I wanna see exactly what you mean by "a well timed 50/50 coming over the top". And to the other issue when a NS waves phases right behind...YUCK. All I can see is March 2018--boo! (Although I don't fully understand why that made the storm do what it did). So in other words....if we can get the Great Lakes to play nice, maybe we get something going!
  8. Man it better not do the same thing as what we're getting Sunday...or else that would be an absolute troll run, lol
  9. I did! But for seeing if there was any next weekend potential, lol
  10. Man I've BEEN over this since like late Monday, lol Now some of ya kinda trolled me for giving up on this weekend on Monday...but now I'm kinda glad I did! This whole thing looked messy from the start to me...with that whole weird ocean low and the wonky suppressed solutions...just wasn't quite feeling it! @stormtracker I'm with ya--I really want next weekend to work out too...been keyed in on it for a bit (especially if we get the forecasted ice box afterward, lol). We shall see!
  11. Welcome--I moved on from that a couple days ago, lol
  12. Yeah it took me a long while to figure that out too, lolol Not sure why it doesn't show up vertically on the mobile site!
  13. These maps literally look like layers of consciousness...and something out of Dr. Seuss, lol
  14. Now does that have to do with their geography (or perhaps the proper term is topography?) Is their elevation such that it's still cold enough for frozen previl, yet not cold enough for all the layers to be cold?
  15. The lesson: Be careful about gushing about snow to people withim shoveling distance...lest they use your snow loving against you...with back-breaking results, lol
  16. I didn't even know it HAD a short range, lol 5 star post, haha
  17. Lol Well thankfully I don't drink (aside from small amounts of Christmas eggnog, lol)
  18. Actually it depends...Outwardly, I can be glass half full, but inwardly...let's just say I tend to focus on the "what might go wrong" scenarios more than I should. So not so much glass half empty but more like...the glass I'm drinking is half full, but what to do if the next glass is empty? Or breaks?....lol
  19. Well, that would fit the nina tendency...welp, IF this weekend's thump and a quick hitter next week were to be it (assuming it doesn't turn into something bigger)...still not a terrible nina winter so far. I mean yeah I got sucked into thinking we'd get more this month because the STJ was more active, but hey...at least we are having a legit winter!
  20. I'd be okay with that if we could also have February as a window...but things might relax then if it reverts back to a more nina-like tendency. If cold and dry eats up the second part of January, this weekend and maybe a couple inches with whatever is next week may be it for snow for a little bit. And man I don't wanna think about that bomb cyclone, lol Again, if we can still have a shot beyond the next two weeks? Great! (Anybody got thoughts on early February?) I know the DC/southern half of the forum is in a really good spot for climo...but my half not so much (because of that painful fringe). Would really like to get something bigger. I mean I'd take more of last Thursday night too, though if I can't get the other!
  21. So I'm wondering if it's gonna be too much of a good thing...and perhaps after the little wave we shouldn't look for much snow-wise for the week after...(can't imagine moisture with that press of cold) I love deep cold but...I'm wondering if we kinda lose the snow chance for a bit.
  22. Now see... Well...here we are, lol Of course I could've just as easily been wrong...but given the mess and not too much getting "crushed" (at least not my neck of the city), and that weird setup with that ocean low, and something where we needed it to back off but not to quick...blech. Never felt good about it! Thus me looking LR after this, lol
  23. My goodness I fall asleep for ah hour and a half (while dreaming that@stormtracker made a serious post where he was fed up with our shenanigans he was gonna start layin' the mod hammer and kickin' people out)...and this is what I wake up to? Lolol
  24. I think I've missed something here..."RR"?
