  1. After a low of 24, up to 31 now with rain beginning.
  2. Third day of snow cover here. Really unusual for mid-November.
  3. Today's storm was the 5th one already in November that dropped at least 0.75" here.
  4. I just realized I am at 28% of my area's annual snowfall average on November 15. Awesome !
  5. Bands of freezing rain moving through has caked everything in a glaze of ice. Snow pack really firming up. Now 30 degrees. The snow portion of the storm dropped 0.75" liquid here, so right about 10:1.
  6. After the temp bottomed out at 27.4 an hour ago, it has climbed steadily to 29.0 with light freezing rain and an occasional pellet. Melting down 7.4" of snow now to get the liquid equivalent but really surprised how powdery it is.
  7. At my low temp for the day now at 27.8 degrees. Steady light snow falling. Winds have noticeably increased as the temp has dropped.
  8. Approaching 6” as sleet is starting to mix in. 27 degrees.
  9. Just like that visibility dropped even more. 1/8 mile at best. Approaching a white out . Heaviest snow since January 2016.
  10. 4.5” with heavy snow falling. Visibility less than a quarter-mile.
  11. I-81 is a mess in Berkeley County. Saw six cars that slid off the road in one 2 mile stretch . Speed averaging 25 mph with the road completely covered and less than a quarter-mile visibility .
  12. Another inch in the past 40 minutes. Now 3" on the ground. No sleet yet.
  13. 2" on the ground and currently pouring snow.
  14. 36/19. Winds have gone calm . Baro steady at 30.47"
  15. Winter Storm Watch to my south and west but does not (yet) include Martinsburg and Hagerstown.
  16. 12k NAM at 18Z has almost 1.25" QPF falling here with the surface below freezing. The majority of that is with temps below 30.
  17. For only the second time in the past twelve years, November will finish above-normal for precipitation at MRB. Currently at 3.43" there. 3.84" in my yard so far.
  18. Spent part of the day in the high ground of Garrett County Md. A light snow cover held on all afternoon in shaded areas as temps stayed in the 30's. Pretty cool to see given the date. Hopefully winter showing its hand early.
  19. My lawn is just shy of 4 acres and is tree-lined on 3 sides. It also has several large trees scattered across it. Three 50-75' high silver maples, three decorative cherries, a black cherry, two walnut and one chestnut trees, a couple of willow trees. If I had to rake, I wouldn't stand a chance. I chop up all of it that I can drive across with the lawn tractor.
  20. 10 of the last 11 Novembers have finished with below-normal precipitation here. Different start to this one. At MRB: 2018- 1.00" so far 2017- 1.10" 2016- 1.19" 2015- 1.79"
  21. That was a great day here with that band parked for hours right over us. I finished with 35.3", the largest storm I have personally experienced. We had to drive our dog to an animal hospital in Hagerstown at the height of the heaviest snowfall on 2/6/2010. I will never forget that drive, with having to zig-zag between tractor trailers parked in the lanes on I-81.
  22. Just came in from a long walk. Blustery morning out there. Wind is 14 gusting to 23, with light rain at 43 degrees. 0.78" so far.
  23. First freeze here this morning. Currently 31 degrees.
  24. LWX added sprinkles to the forecast for today. Currently moderate rain here at 46 degrees.
