  1. How so? A study published June 14 in the journal The Lancet examined the impact of the delta variant in Scotland, where it had become the dominant strain. The researchers found that the risk of hospitalization from COVID-19 was roughly doubled for patients infected with delta, compared with people infected with the alpha variant.
  2. Do you get a free hot dog?
  3. Last 8:00 pm sunset . Another step down for summer. At least it was a nice one...
  4. My feeling is if they want to get sick let them. I've likely had it and been vaccinated on top of it. The newest study, not peer reviewed, indicates that unvaccinated folks are only twice as likely to catch the virus. Who knows if that will come down even more.
  5. Pretty sure the breakthrough cases are under reported. Played golf with four guys last week and then went out for dinner and drinks. Two of the guys came down with breakthrough cases. The third tested negative. I didn't even bother getting tested.
  6. I do know the CDC stopped reporting on breakthrough cases back in May unless they were hospitalized or had died.
  7. The challenge for this forecast is where the axis of heavy rainfall will set up which will be dependent on the boundary location. Global and hi-res guidance offer differing solutions so forecast confidence is lower than what is ideal at this time range. Consensus of the guidance favors the I-95 corridor including BOS and PVD for axis of heaviest rainfall but the ECMWF is further west into CT and central MA while HRRR and hi- res RGEM are further east and focused more across SE MA and Cape Cod. We leaned toward the HREF LPMM which targeted the I-95 corridor into eastern MA which is also closer to the low level jet and PWAT axis so we issued a flash flood watch for RI and eastern MA where confidence is highest at this time. However, the axis of heavy rainfall may still shift to east or west given envelope of deterministic and ensemble solutions Wherever it sets up it looks like ass.
  8. I'm sure folks were waiting for your estimate. Thank you.
  9. Winds were finally cooperating. No tuna but a nice little consolation prize...
  10. Heaviest rain Wednesday eve - Thursday night is likely across Southeast Mass. 1-2"+ possible in a couple waves of locally heavy rain that moves through. Won't rain that whole stretch of time, but when it does, downpours possible. Totals likely much lower northwest of I-95.
  11. he 00z ECENS mean has 2+ inches storm total rainfall over RI and southeast MA Wed night thru Fri. 00z GEFS is slightly farther southeast with the axis of heavy rain, more focused over ACK and points southeast. Thus, could be a sharp cutoff in precip along/near I-95 corridor. Congratulations Nantucket.
  12. I doubt there's anyone on Earth who could distinguish the difference between vermont, new hampshire, and Maine maple syrup.
  13. Same prices Boston. You could offer a keg of PBR for $14 and I would say, thanks but no. And I'm no beer snob. Only thing nastier is Old Style at Wrigley Field. Affectionately known as Dog Style.
  14. I was out and about all day and saw very few.
  15. I think that's exactly what's happening. Chatting with my friend who works at a hospital yesterday he says everyone has a cold.
  16. Not sure I ever remember the dew points being so comfortable at this time of year. Summer of yore.
  17. Quit complaining. Have a nice cider donut.
