  1. It stinks but it could be worse. If we can get the pattern flip we want by mid-January, I'll happily roll the dice in prime-climo from mid-January through hopefully mid-March. It's disappointing this "epic" pattern was a total bust and we won't manage a White Christmas, but it seems like some of the smartest posters we have here like where we are heading.
  2. I get that, and that's totally fine. I don't mind them posting at all, even if I admit sometimes the convo gets confusing when someone is analyzing models and talking about snow and it's supposed to be 37 and raining where pretty much everyone else lives and then I realize that person lives in Deep Creek. I just think it's odd that someone from Philly is scorned from posting here when their forum is dead, they are respectful, and their weather is almost identical to nearly everyone that posts in this forum except for the handful or so of folks that live way out in the far reaches of our region. I feel like anyone in the Mid-Atlantic, which Philly is despite having another forum, should be welcomed so long as they are respectful. I love learning from other posters.
  3. Neither is West Virginia or Western Maryland, by those standards.
  4. What? Yes it is. 95% of the time, our snowstorm is their snowstorm and vice versa and our temps are within a couple degrees of one another. Sometimes, they partially hit on Miller B's that whiff us because they develop too late but it's essentially the same. Even NYC is pretty similar outside of the Miller B's or the rare west to east storm that moves north of us but south of them and they get some snow. New England is a different story.
  5. Seems like you don't understand the difference between being realistic and being a weenie. If you want to do the latter, knock yourself out. And I'm certainly happy for anyone who is getting snow this morning. Love seeing the pictures. I'm getting rain, which is what was expected and what literally every single model showed.
  6. Always better to post optimistic things with no facts behind them than the reality. How's that working out for all of those that were wishcasting snow for their backyards this morning?
  7. GFS and even CMC look pretty good for the post-front stuff, but accumulation is basically non-existent.
  8. Not seeing what others are. HRRR looks like it is holding steady with the snow NW of Moco/Hoco.
  9. Not surprising, but still disappointing. What a garbage model. Awful on this storm.
  10. That one really blew up for the northeast folks. Your location really helped with that one. Down this way, it was like a 6-8 inch storm. It was fun and snowed like crazy for 3-4 hours, but then it was over.
  11. Merry Christmas, Ji! Here's some coal in your stocking!
  12. Tony Pann makes Justin Berk blush these days.
  13. Why not just post the NAM from the day before the January 2016 storm?
  14. 2 out of 30 is interesting? I count 20 virtual complete whiffs.
  15. Would it matter? Could have a -NAO, -AO, +PNA and it would find a way not to snow.
  16. The GFS isn't really even a big storm for anyone anymore.
  17. No NAM extrapolations? I guess the towel has been thrown.
  18. Not yet, but probably just a few days away from cancelling all of December.
  19. Hope the GEFS is real. I would lock that up right now.
  20. For sure. Still plenty of time for things to change or swing back the other way.
  21. It was pretty obvious fairly on in the run that it was digging way too far west.
