    Looks as if GGEM brushes us with a couple inches of snow wednesday night. Hopefully this won't be a miss to the south like last night's Euro showed. Not a big storm but could be a decent advisory level event wednesday night into thursday morning.

    It's definitely puzzling how warm NAM is. Hopefully RGEM has the right idea. Really tough to make a forecast right now with RGEM giving NYC 4 inches of snow while NAM gives nothing at all.

    12z NAM is a decent hit for thursday morning with several inches of snow. Looks as if snow could come in as early as wednesday night.

    Interesting that 12z NAM came in warm, but 12z RGEM just came in much colder. Watched the color loop and the darker blues get down to north central NJ and NYC. It looks as if it gets a few inches of snow all the way down to NYC, and has very significant amounts for northern NJ. Difficult forecast with such a huge difference between NAM and RGEM. Hopefully they will come together at 18z.

    Yeah, close to 6 inches here. The back edge of the snow is almost here, so we'll be finishing up with about 6 inches.

    They start very cold in the 20s, but how long it stays cold enough depends on what model you look at. Tonight's Euro, as Anthony showed in the February thread, gives the entire area a LOT of snow thursday afternoon into thursday night. For today's event, the Euro is still giving the NYC area a solid 4 inches of snow.

    0z GFS gives the NYC area a few inches of snow thursday before mixing, but much higher amounts to the north where it takes much longer to change over.

    It looks as if GFS gets a few inches of snow down to NYC with that one now. With leftover cold air from monday's cold blast, it's starting to look as if tuesday is turning into an interesting little event.

    3 to 5 inches on the 18z RGEM. Not bad.

    18z RGEM looks very good on the color loop. No snow map out yet, but I think this run is going to give more snow.

    And it has decent potential due to plenty cold air in place. In addition to today's GFS and GGEM, last night's Euro also had accumulating snow Thursday.

    What about Thursday? GGEM and GFS have accumulating snow that day.

    UKMET just came in with a nice 4 to 6 inch snowfall, better than what the other models showed tonight. Euro going to be interesting.

    Euro is a couple inches. Good sign, and I bet it will be more robust tonight.

    Funny how it goes. You'd think the UKMET jumping aboard big-time would be a sign that the Euro (which was consistently showing a snowstorm) was really onto something with the snowstorm idea, but then the Euro comes in a miss by a lot. It's never easy trying to figure out potential storms. At least we still have 1 model showing a snowstorm, but the Euro dropping the storm certainly lowers confidence.

    0z UKMET is a significant snowstorm sunday. A good 6 to 8 inches for most of the area. The Euro is not alone.

    Yeah, I miss the old radar so much. The new NWS radar site is horrendous. Sometimes I have to wait forever for it to load. Don't know why they had to change a good thing.

    Changing back to snow here now.

    When I watched the RGEM color loop last night, it showed us changing over to sleet for a couple hours around midday before going back to snow. There have been some hints that we would get a period of sleet, but it shouldn't last too long. It will be going back to heavy snow.

    Nice shift north on the Euro compared to last night. Gets significant snow, close to a foot, up to NYC. Big jackpot for Ocean county NJ with over 20 inches.

    12z UKMET is a huge hit. Over a foot of snow for NYC. Hopefully a good sign that this won't be suppressed. 12z Euro will be interesting.

    Hopefully NAM is correct about getting good snows pretty far north up into CT.

    Yeah this RGEM run gets about 6 inches of snow to NYC, and it's still snowing at the end of the run. Obviously a close call on this run though as the NYC area is near the sharp cutoff.

    You don't have to go all the way down to Atlantic City to get into good snow on tonight's Euro. Northern Ocean county gets 10 inches of snow. Not that far away ... just need a slight north shift on the Euro.

    Euro has NYC on the northern edge. Gets a few inches up to NYC. It's very close, as Monmouth county NJ gets 8 inches and Ocean county close to a foot.
