71 here. Beautiful.

67 degrees here right now, and not a cloud in the sky. Spectacular weather.

After surviving the light frost tuesday and wednesday night, the sensitive plants in my vegetable garden got destroyed by the freeze last night. We got down to 30. End of the growing season for sensitive plants, but more hardy things like lettuce can go on for awhile as you said. Broccoli sometimes goes on until early December here. So I don't really consider the growing season over until we get a very hard freeze that destroys the more hardy plants.
-
Yeah, and I don't think the temp even got below freezing right where I am. When I went to bed at 1am, I looked at weather stations around the area and the temps mostly ranged from 33 to 37. I was at 37 here. Obviously the ones that were down to 33 already at 1am went below freezing, but the ones that were still 37 might not have reached freezing. It probably got down to about 33 here which would explain why my plants were barely touched. It'll be interesting to see if they can survive again tonight and tomorrow night. It might be a little bit colder. And of course when we talk growing season, we're talking about the more sensitive plants. I have more hardy things out there like lettuce, broccoli and raspberries. It takes a hard freeze to damage those plants. They will likely continue for a few more weeks. Sometimes they go into very late November.

Funny because I was just outside checking, and my vegetable plants are still in decent shape. Hardly any damage to the tomato, pepper, eggplant and pole lima bean plants. Just a tiny bit. Must've been just a very light brief frost here. I know we have frost/freeze threats again tonight and tomorrow night though, so maybe they won't be able to make it through this stretch.

Yeah next week looks beautiful with high temps in the low 60s. Maybe mid 60s late week. Well above normal, but still feels like nice cool Fall weather. Perfect for November. Hopefully it will flip to a colder pattern in December when it matters for snow opportunities. I'm hoping we can just barely avoid the frost the next several nights to get to next week's warmer weather and really extend the growing season. It continues to looks like a very close call with temps getting down to mid 30s for our area.

The growing season will probably end for northwest areas late next week, but I'm not sure about our area. It's going to be close. To me right now it looks as if our lows might get down to the mid-upper 30s with the cool shot late next week. Might not be quite cold enough for frost, but it's close and we have a ways to go. Wouldn't be surprised if it trends not as cold as we get closer.

64 here right now, despite it being mostly cloudy. Mild pattern will continue for awhile. Looking at long range, maybe we finally get some slightly below normal air coming in around the 5th of November.

OBS and nowcast 9PM tonight-8A Wednesday for a general 2-5" rain, isolated 8" possible. 40-60 kt damaging wind likely Tuesday-early Wednesday. Focus for damaging wind and heaviest rain is the I95 corridor to the coasts. Power outages esp CT LI.

The rain has pushed to the north. Picked up 3.65" here. A lot of rain obviously and flooding in some spots, but thankfully nothing like Ida. Last night I moved my cars to higher ground to make sure they wouldn't get flooded again in case the worst case scenario of getting 6+ inches of rain happened, but thankfully that didn't happen.- 228 replies

72 degrees here. No surprise that temps went higher than forecast.

Above normal temps and above normal snowfall has become a good bet. It's what we've seen so much of in the the last 2 decades. We're able to pull off big snowstorms in warm winters and mediocre to lousy patterns in this new climate that we have. It has become a Colorado-like climate with the combination of warmer temps and plenty of big snowstorms.
-
Had a high temp of 78 here today. Yesterday I went up to Swartswood State Park in Sussex County. I thought there would be a decent amount of color, but it was still mostly green. Amazing to still have mostly green in extreme northwest NJ in late October. What an October this year.
-
62 degrees here right now. I knew we would manage to make it to the low 60s today, but obviously it does feel cool after how warm it has been lately. Still looks as if we'll see mid 70s wednesday and thursday. Maybe as high as 77 here thursday.
-
Yep. Tuesday upper 60s to near 70. Wednesday and thursday mid 70s, and near 70 on friday. A very warm week except for 1 normal day on monday. And the cooldown next weekend only takes us back down to near normal.
-
As SACRUS said, the warmup mid next week looks significant. At least mid 70s wednesday and thursday. The cooldowns, like the ones coming for this sunday/monday and next weekend into early the following week, aren't very impressive with high temps still making it to the low-mid 60s.
-
After our little cool shot sunday into monday, the warmup for mid next week is looking more and more impressive. Probably well into the 70s wednesday and thursday next week, before the next cool shot for the weekend of the 23rd.
-
My vegetable garden is still going strong too. Still lots of tomatoes and peppers. I love winter obviously, but I always hope that the first frost comes late. Thankfully the cool shot coming around the 22nd of october doesn't appear anywhere near strong enough to threaten frost here. Want to extend the growing season as much as possible. Hopefully no frost until early november. And I have some more hardy plants like raspberries that keep producing until a hard freeze. Some years I am still picking raspberries in late November. I'm hoping it stays mild until late November, and then bring on winter.
-
That's the important thing to me. I don't mind if a winter has warmer than normal temps as long as we get a good amount of snow. Since the winter of 2002-2003, we've had average to above average snowfall in 14 out of 19 winters. And of course many of those were way above average snowfall. So we're on a very good run in the snowfall department, despite the winters having mild temps overall.
-
80 degrees here now.
-
Yeah 12z Euro gets the rain out of the way quickly sunday night.

Thank you!

Thank you! And happy birthday to you in advance! I'm turning 44 on tuesday.
