  1. I was at Mt Snow and Wildcat last March, and I drove all the way from MD to get all the way up there. I enjoyed both mountains, and I especially enjoyed being at Mt Snow on a powder day, but I've been told there is so much more to Vermont than Mt Snow, and I'm willing to drive to see the best of it. Wildcat is nearly as far from my location as MRG, but I still definitely want to make some trips up there. Crotched is the closest Peak resort and it seems to have the cheapest lessons, so that will probably be my "home mountain" so to speak (Wachusett is the closest, but I don't want to double the money I spend on passes just for that). As far as the cost, MRG offers a much better deal for the under 30 crowd than any other good mountain in the area, and after this year I won't have another chance to get a pass that cheap.
  2. I'm an intermediate skier, but after some practice at Crotched and Wildcat, and maybe Mt Snow, I'd like to give MRG a try. From the pics and videos I've seen, it's an amazing place on a powder day. For a long time I've wanted to ski in northern VT, but the other mountains are way too expensive to justify traveling that far. Maybe next year I'll get the Epic pass.
  3. I'm thinking of getting both the Drifter pass and the seasonal pass for MRG, which is very cheap if you're under 30.
  4. Maybe... I'll probably make a decision about ski passes next month since I'm not yet settled, but Wachusett is the closest decent ski area to my location so I'm kinda interested.
  5. There's only one on my list that I experienced in New England: the Feb 2013 blizzard. Hopefully I'll soon have more to add now that I'm most likely here to stay.
  6. I-70 seems to be the line. Just a few miles up the west loop of 695 made a massive difference between the haves and have-nots. Oh well, still waiting for a big storm this winter.
  7. Whenever someone comes up with a map for this storm, it's going to have a heck of a cutoff.
  8. March 30, 2014. Not sure if you were in Carroll county that year, but the ridges got like 8-9" while a few miles away received next to nothing.
  9. If that's a mean... then I have no words. And it's only 15 days. If anything even close to that happens, then today's disappointment will be a distant memory for those of us who didn't score this time.
  10. 4.3" just north of the beltway. But it's often the other way around too, especially when mixing is involved.
  11. It was good for November (just over 3" here), but the really good totals were further north and west. I guess there are just a few of us left in the subforum who haven't had a warning criteria storm yet. Hopefully that will soon change.
  12. Congrats to all the DC people... 8-12" is an amazing total and it seems pretty widespread south of I-70. Many of you haven't seen a big storm in years, so I hope you all enjoy this one.
  13. I think the issue is with the radar. For some reason it depicts the bands a bit further north than where they actually are. I noticed that myself in Woodlawn when the radar showed me on the southern edge, yet it was ripping. But then further north on 695 into supposedly better returns, it tapered off. Seems like I-70 is the cutoff between the haves and have-nots.
  14. 4.2" here. Picked up about a half inch since daybreak.
  15. 1" is probably the most optimistic scenario, IMO.
  16. Damn... sorry about that. Hope you get better soon. As so many others have been saying, this is just the beginning of a potentially epic period of deep winter. Glad you were able to experience this, even if it was mostly from inside.
  17. Hope you're feeling better today. Out of curiosity, this the biggest snowstorm of your life? You definitely were in a great spot for this one.
  18. So painfully close, but up here north of 695 it's flurries, even though I'm in the dark green.
  19. I was in Woodlawn an hour ago, and it was coming down hard and looked like a snowstorm again. Meanwhile here at home, it’s been snowTV all day.
  20. 3.8" here. Just got back from a nice jebwalk.
  21. Snow has picked up a bit and I'm headed outside. Scenery looks really nice. Probably going to measure again.
  22. Whoa I just checked. It suddenly looks very juicy south of I-70. Let's hope some of that stuff makes it up north.
  23. LWX called for 2-5", so that sounds right on target.
