    26 at my house this AM. I hit freezing last night about 10 PM as well and it was 29 at midnight. I saw MRX reported 27 at the 7 AM observation.

    Looks like there could be a few patches of light snow beginning to mix in over W TN. Assuming it’s reaching the ground, of course. Just amazing how cold this airmass is and how it resembles a wintertime anafront! MRX latest afd talked about that very thing-how most of the moisture was anafrontal. I can’t recall seeing something quite this strong so late into April.

    I noticed the same thing John. There are YouTube videos of the broadcast from 1993 in Knoxville showing the airport receiving 15in and those amounts that you mentioned above. It’s almost like every 10yrs they decrease it a little (maybe to fit the climate change narrative, uggh, but hey that’s all conspiracy that they would do that, right LOL) At this rate by the time my kids are my age, they will say there was 6in at most.

    I put it in the obs. thread, but it’s absolutely ripping fatties here in Mtown this AM! A nice closing shot to this storm I guess! Looks like a healthy band is setting up!

    Unbelievable that even Austin TX and places even further south are getting snow yet again today! This would have to rank in the top 2 or 3 snowiest and coldest periods in history for that area!

    Just about 1/3-1/2in on the grass and vehicles. Coming down at a good clip still.

    Coming down pretty good now mostly snow. Temp is down to 32 dp 31. My dewpoint actually ticked down with the temp when it went from 33/32 to 32/31. Rates cooling the column?

    Looks like I dropped to 17 earlier but now back up to 19 with clouds moving back in. Dewpoint is 17 though.

    In regard to that previous storm-it was February 21, 2015. I just went back and found it. I’ll put a snippet in banter since it’s not pertaining to this storm, although it would be nice for some if it could play out this way and it would be terrible for others.

    It would be 2015 then bc 2018 was not a kind year to the eastern valley.

    I remember several years back (would have to look back through the threads here, but it’s here somewhere) where a front end thump was looking to change to rain but it just never did in the eastern valley. In the foothills and mtns it warmed up to nearly 50 degrees, however it stayed in the 20’s to around 30 in the valley and stayed snow the whole time! Ended up with 5.5in at the house and I know some places just north had over a foot! That was about as strange of a situation we could ever expect around here. The thinking was that somehow there was a cold pool aloft over the valley and that the warm nose hit the mtns and just never was able to penetrate back to the west. Extremely rare system indeed.

    Pretty decent snow shower rolling through here right now. Temp is down to 23.

    I see Memphis is at 1. That is also the coldest that they have been since sometime in the 80’s. Perhaps even more impressive is the reading of -1 in Dallas TX and 2 in Shreveport LA! A testament of just how strong this Arctic airmass is.
