Today will be Baltimore's 673rd consecutive day on which the City has seen less than 1" daily snowfall. That will break the record of 672 days that was set from February 23, 2011 through December 25, 2012. New York City and Philadelphia are also in the midst of record streaks.

At this point do we just root for a crazy new record?

    Foggy and boring.

  2. It looks and feel like Dec. That's all I care about these days. Climo where I live includes cloudy, chilly days in the 40's with rainy conditions. Today is a perfect day for starting Dec. Snow near Annopoils in December is rare and special in this area. Even when I was a kid 35 years ago snow in December was a treat, not a guarantee. I do remember some nice ones.

Is this the start of cancelled winter or winter starts and then gets cancelled?  I’m so confused

Normally we just cancel winter during our meltdowns. You can cancel winter then 6 hours later you can un-cancel if your feeling better or manic over the next op run. I'm going to start sending weed gifts to everyone who gets reefed starting Dec 15th lol

I panic every time I see the words "warm nose". Is that a hidden menu option in the gold package or do I need the Platinum quadruple play package?

I hate clippers. I'm glad they died off years ago. Worst tease storms of all. It always ends up as you described lol

I say we just forget about the Reaper and crown you the "Reefer".   You can help everyone relax come late December relax if we don't see any snow.

Perfect.. I'm down. I've got the most beautiful flowers you can imagine. Grown with love and sea weed. Once you get reefed, I need your mailing address so I can send your free medication lol

  6. On a positive side note. Doing a crop of weed in my greenhouse from September to the end of December has been easy. No real cold, low humidity levels has saved a lot on electricity. The plants have done amazing as they are entering week 6 of flower. Looks like a stinky Christmas ahead lol

Winter is honest to God the most dumb time of year on AmWx. After trying for years to use humor to redirect conversation I just can’t take it anymore.

The shared love of wx and nature, and the continued contributions of good people are the only things that keep me around.

I think it's important to understand a lot of the people here are extremely passionate about snow. Myself included. We need to be have tolerance for meltdowns and weird negative comments here because this is the only place where people can vent without being put into a mental institution lol. I can't go to my friends and family and tell them how I feel when the models pull the rug on a pattern or storm. I do anyway and they think I'm crazy, but I don't care. It better f**king snow soon. I'm sick of 55 and sunny.

Dulles's normals today are 52 and 33 and it never averages less than 42 for a high and 25 for a low. Folks need to readjust their expectations.

I know lol. I just needed to do my annual late November whining. I'm good now. Bring on endless fall! Lol

This hobby is similar to watching sports. You want your team to win, but have zero control over the outcome. They also both have a competitive aspect to it that can magnify the noise. It might be why there’s a fair number of people on here who enjoy both sports and weather. The difference for me is that when I actually play sports (typically basketball), I can have at least some control over the outcome (it’s also a creative outlet for me). With the weather, you can’t really “play”…you’re relegated to just learning up on the topics and relying on models/data in order to not only become a better forecaster, but to seek a desired outcome. Fun hobby, but it takes patience…and probably too much sometimes. Personally, while I enjoy the analytical part, the most fruitful part of this hobby is when the weather is in real-time.

How’s that for deep thinking? Lol

    Fantastic lol.

  10. I love this place. It's full of weirdos (interesting people) and deep thinkers. There's all walks of life here. The one thing we all share is that we're different then probably 95% of the population. We're gifted with a very deep connection to nature. We're a group of unique fokes and the conversations reflect that. Our Mid Atlantic fourm is the funniest on the board imo. This place cracks me up all the time. Welcome back, Bob! Great to see your doing well and finding peace. Gorgeous place!

I smelt smoke this morning while running.

Now breezy and 55/40 at IAD.

No smoke here. Well.. never mind lol. That front sure did clear the humidity and moisture. Humidity dropping into the 40's here and wind is clearing the trees off finally. I got full sun on my greenhouse now that the trees are bare.

  12. I don't think we hit freezing here in the lowlands. I didn't notice any ice. Warming up more then expected. Not sure the temp bit it feels near 60 and the sky is clear. I'd pay money for a 40 mph wind gust is clear off these trees. We've had no wind for a while.

Is that some bright banding on radar west of Frederick?

I was wondering that too. I bet it is. I see reports of big wet flakes out to the west of there in higher elevations. I bet it's snowing on the top of south mountain and the Catoctins.
