The past 2 hours it really tightened up. I bet it's a hurricane.

Already raining here and breezy. This looks like it's coming right over my location. I'm excited!

Things heating up down there at the Frying Pan Shoals Light...
RIP phone speakers lol. Wow! Awesome! I'm going to be definitely driving down to sandy point tomorrow as the low passes probably overhead or just to the east.

Yeah, forecasting on Baby Ophelia has been pretty solid for the past 24-36 hours, just did a lot of catching up on NHC's discussions and graphics. It does indeed read like we're going to have some moderate impact here in the metro areas. Between lurking here, finishing some taskers at work, and squeezing the weekly mowing in...gonna be a busy day!
Indeed. I'm working ot today to get everything buttoned up. I've got a 10' tall cannabis plant in full bloom that I need to build support for. I'll be out in the dark tonight doing that. Ugh.. legal weed lol

By the look of this thread I figured the storm went poof. Some very interesting weather on the way. Wake up, people! We have a soon to be tropical storm basically moving up the bay tomorrow.

GFS looks interesting. Looks like another home brew system next week than a hurricane making landfall on the gulf coast at the end of the run. Maybe we're past the boring drought.

Gorgeous evening out.
I agree. I've got to kick on my little heater in my greenhouse. My "tomato plants" are spoiled and don't do anything under 70 at night. It will probably get to 58-60 here in the lowland swamp.

Are we getting nighttime storms again tonight. There's a bunch of heavy rain down in VA.

A lot of CAM guidance this evening showing very early storms Sunday on the east side of the Potomac with new cells firing around DC Metro by midday.
Looks like it's starting to happen.

In Odenton right now and it is pouring and storming. Loud thunder. Radar looks great for more.
I'm to your SE, just east of Crofton. I'm sitting in what looks like a perfect spot for a possible flooding situation. I'm bringing in my important plants and I'm hearing rolling thunder in lots of direction.
-
Looks like things are starting to pop. Another day with storms moving south to north. I've got some dark clouds developing to my south and radar confirms there's water starting to pour out of them.
And there's the first rumble of thunder.

Still out here.... smoking weed. I'm get a really cool lightning display. The storms headed into PG and AA mean business. Man... ground shaking missiles. Looks like big rain incoming for my area.

Down here in the swamps it's sounding like a classic summer night. I was just sitting outside enjoying some really tasty cannabis (weed) on my patio while listening to the storms approaching from the south. The insects sounds and the rolling thunder reminds me of being a kid. Minus the weed, of course.

I'm in Williamsport, MD. I'm in a little valley with the wind blowing right now a ridge just off to my west and SW. I'm in a open parking lot washing tractor trailer trucks lol. My guys aren't happy. It still feels dry and truck reads 102.
-
My company is washing 40 tractor trailer trucks this weekend in Hagerstown. It's a desert out here. Everything is toast. Even large trees are dying.

Looks like even here in the lowland swamps were going to bake out whatever moisture we had. Nothing here overnight but sprinkles. Should be a beautiful brown fall lol. Seems like that's becoming the norm.
-
Looked pretty ragged on radar as it made landfall. It's super rare to get those perfect eye walls with clear skies. I was hoping for some sunrise shots from inside the eye. Looks like it made landfall in a pretty good spot as far as population goes.

Woke up to the garden shower. Looks like around 0.1” fell (guesstimate based off local wx stations). Gambrill/watershed might have done a little better, which is right up the street from me.
I love it up at the watershed. I was hiking up there a few weeks ago on a weekend. Normally I go during the week. Dudes were flying past me on bikes the whole time. I'd just blow a cloud of weed smoke for them as they came by lol. I also go there to see winter since we don't really have winter on the coastal plan anymore. The lake I visit up there is almost dried up.

I figured I'd bump this for the drought victims. Here east of DC we're trying to see how flooded we get tonight lol

We have a drought thread.

Flood watch for the northern Shenandoah Desert including Winchester area -- we'll see!
I've had no rain since August 8 and don't expect any this week or any time soon. The 90s and dry next week will finish a lot of stuff off.
From what? The chance of showers today and tonight? Models don't show much.

Visible satellite of Franklin looks amazing right now. It's late afternoon out there and the sun angle really shows that beautiful stadium effect. What a beautiful display of raw natural power.

Radar practicing for winter lol. So close but another miss. Pretty impressive rainy day to our south.

I was waiting for the little break for taking a walk. I'm grabbing shoes and I hear it pouring again.
