Another day with the AC cranking in the car and everyone walking about the neighborhood in shorts.  In fact the neighbor kid is outside washing the family SUV in shorts and tank top.  Car thermometer was 69F on the way back from the gym.  Another run at 70F.

    Sweet pattern.  Epic.

Have you ever tried weed? It's a beautiful day. Warm AF and puke worthy, but it's beautiful.

Puke warm at 67. I hope to get a couple miles on my hiking trail before dark. Trails are beautiful right now. Nice a dry.

March is going to be special.  It's ripe.  The pattern looks amazing.  All we'll need is -25F departures, heavy rates, and nocturnal storms.

And if not, This amazing pattern has legs well into April.

I hope not lol. I'm so over 40-50 degree weather. I had my week of winter thankfully. I'm ready for blue sky and temps around 70. I rather have that than 3 more months of 40-50

me too, i loved that stretch of winter. it was so nice going on snow walks and taking it all in. if it ended there and then, i would've been happy with this winter

I agree. It doesn't get much better for my area. I probably hiked over 30 miles that week. It was fantastic.

We track the good patterns for a month ahead of time and if they do get here they last about 3 days.  And yes I know where I live so no need to be snarky.  It’s just the facts about weather in coastal mid Atlantic

I'd be super happy with a 3 day period of winter weather like we had a couple weeks ago. I'd take that and call this winter a winner.

  5. I feel like I'm also becoming addicted to digital blue. I use to smoke a joint, and go for a hike, or work in my gardens. Now smoking a joint isn't enough. I smoke, than soon after I'm here on the board looking for a hit of digital blue. I use to get home from work and enjoy a bong hit. Now I only care about digital blue. Does anyone have any maps? I've got cash.

  6. The dreaded memory of March snow conversion. Never good lol.

    March 1993

The super storm. I had 11" of snow that flipped to warm, 60 degree rain. That lasted a few hours. I remember the roaring SE winds and crazy temperature rise. Later that day the wind came around to the NW and the temperature dropped into the low teens that night. The snowpack froze solid like a sheet of ice. Then during the night we had a squall come through and drop about an inch of powder on top of that ice sheet. The day after the super storm was the most blowing snow I've seen in my life. It was blowing across that ice sheet. The temperatures never hit 20 and the winds were gusting to 50 mph all day.

Gorgeous morning in Canaan with undercast in the valley.

Beautiful. I've always been fascinated by the interaction between elevation and the weather. The microclimates on a mountain are awesome.

Cloudy and pretty wintery out there. Low solar energy today so my LED lights in my greenhouse are brighter this morning to make up for it.

Snow hides things...streets, mud, some of civilization's uglier bits. Big part of its appeal. Snow also reveals things, like animal tracks, where birds are demolishing berries, and the fact that all of nature is a giant toilet. Have a great day, everyone!

Seeing the rythm of nature exposed by snow is one of the magical things about snow. I probably hiked 30 miles last week. Most of it in the snow. The highest traffic of deer I saw the entire week was right past where my vegetable and weed garden is going this summer lol. I've got a fence, thankfully.

  9. I've had snow on the ground for 8 days. I hike on a local mountain bike trail network. It's not crowded. I never see too many people, well.. until I spark a joint. Than some boy scout group will pop up. Anyway.. The amount of dog piss over 8 days is pretty amazing. It's basically a trail of piss and shit lol. I'm high. End of rant.

    *Takes quick glance at stats*

So, Newark is about 50/50 BWI to PHL, BWI seasonal average to date is 6.9 and PHL is 8.0, so I'll go 7. If you are at 8, then you ARE running above average. Would we ALL like to have more? You bet! But saying this past week wasn't good and a relief to many snow starved folks is a bit much.

This past week was exactly what I needed. It was perfect here where live. I made up for a lot of the past shitty winters. I had an amazing week. I definitely made it memorable. I did stuff I've wanted to do for a long time. Oh, yeah. This is the panic room. Oops.

Well. That sucked. My beautiful 9" thick snowpack is turning into swamp.

2009-10 was once in a lifetime. Modoki Nino and sustained strong HL blocking. It was cold enough every time it needed to be.

Definitely once in a lifetime here swamplands. February was insanity. The blizzard that followed the GOAT storm was epic that morning. I felt like I was in Lake Placid, NY. That was a beautiful and powerful display of winter power.

  12. I've lived here my entire 45 year life. The coldest winters consists of a week or 2 period of cold. 2-3 weeks average. Then another period of cold for a week or so. That's it lol. If we get another week like we just had. This will be an epic winter imo. We even had a couple cool wind events and flooders. I'm feel satisfied this morning. I'm ok with 2-3 weeks of normal weather. If Feb produces another storm or cold white period, winter 23-24 will be the best winter since 2010. 2010 btw wasn't cold at all. I had 30" of snow on the ground and temps around 50 every day. The February period was pretty epic. It lasted a few days.

    Rant over.

you are always welcome here Jeb!

He brought us the Jebwalk. I've done many Jebwalks and thought about this man. He's an icon and only dude from Texas allowed to post current observations in Texas lol. Jebwalk in the 2.50" of rain, Jeb!
