It's been quite the period for Northern Maine. Worst part was the New Year retro bomb, which ruined the 2nd half of winter and led to the warmest - by far - JFMA period in CAR history (records back thru 1939.)

CAR departures and rank (#1= warmest), starting with OCT 2009

OCT....-3.66

NOV....+6.29....#1

DEC....+3.90...#16

JAN....+9.62.....#2

FEB...+10.53...#2 (Feb 1981 was +14.5, CAR's greatest departure - in either direction - for any month.)

MAR....+7.20....#2

APR....+6.77....#1

MAY....+3.18....#6

JUN....+0.02...n/a (If one day had had a max or min 1F cooler, the month would have been exactly normal.)

JUL....+3.69....#4

AUG....+2.66...#4

SEP....+3.98...#6

OCT....+1.28..mid 20s (Middle 1/3 of years)

NOV is averaging a bit more than +5 thru 11/17. I'm expecting that to be +2/+3 by month's end, for 13 in a row.

If NOV finishes +2.5 and DEC right on normal, 2010 will be CAR's mildest year, by about 1.3F.
