mayjawintastawm
October came in for Denver at 2nd warmest ever. Precip was 0.44", same as at my house and about 40% of normal. Centennial Airport just south of me (airport is 3 miles S, measuring station is at the south end of the runway) got only 0.02". Gotta change this pattern just a little. Northern Colorado mountains snowpack only about 25% of normal. The southwest part of Colorado obviously looking good for whittling down the drought. In Fort Collins, last winter's snowfall of 22" was the driest since the winter of 1945-46. If things don't start changing soon we'll be lucky to even have 22" this winter... This El Nino is definitely favoring the southwest US with abundant moisture (that's great they needed it), leaving further north high and dry. That pattern just seems to persist - it's now looking questionable that our region will even see our first snow in November :-( Oh well - maybe December or January? History suggests it's very unlikely we see as little or less than last winter. Very strong El Ninos almost always deliver a huge storm or two at some point to the Front Range. mayjawintastawm Posted yesterday at 06:04 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 06:04 PM Great to see a true upslope pattern blossoming on radar. Just a few tens of miles could make a big difference for the whole Front Range (including Fort Collins!!). I keep thinking there's gotta be enough week to week variation for the northern Front Range to cash in eventually.

Chinook
I have located something known as a "mid-latitude storm," with something called "snow," and "rain," around Denver. I haven't heard of these creatures for a long time.

MarcmmKU
Below avg snow for I70 in november looks like a lock atp. The dry pattern continues in the long range with the supposed pattern change mid month now fizzling out on the models.
