I'm glad someone cashed in. Another day or near misses for me. That's been the story of the summer except for about a week stretch in July. With the looks of the coming Nino, we'll probably all tire of rain this winter. We'll see I guess.

BooneWX
Sneaky derecho threat late this evening. Hope not, but it’ll still likely be in the upper 80s well after dark.

Right now, these cells are dying at the Catawba County border. They can't make it out of Caldwell and Alexander. I'm hoping that changes...
Ernest T Bass
I had a storm "break containment" and move into my neighborhood. Yes, I know I'm using winter cliches in August, but it was exciting. 2

There may be another complex rolling through this afternoon/evening based on radar analysis upstream, but again, NWS doesn't seem to make much of it.
Ernest T Bass
Ended up with .5 from yesterday afternoon, and another .4 late last night. So .9 total on a day that I started with not even a chance showing in my forecast. And this was after days of missed chances with very little to show. I think that is part of what makes weather fun. 1
wncsnow
1.2 total here. Just when I think it's going to dry out, the storms return
calculus1
That rain may not survive the mountains this afternoon. They keep shredding any showers with which they interact. Outside is a rather weird filtered sunshine through very high level clouds here in Hickory.
