Was I just not paying attention or is this significantly over performing? I’m already nearing 2” and there’s a lot of heavy stuff in N Georgia/SWNC heading this way. Local creeks and ditches are overflowing (never recovered post-Helene)

No this is definitely over performing. We've had heavy rain and storms basically all night and all morning.  Love to see it.

Yea, this is bad. Every hard rain causes issues here after Helene. And this was a major miss/underestimate by the models

2.61” of rain. We’ve had dry conditions before this but I’m modestly worried it’ll be enough to loosen up tree roots before tomorrows wind.

3.2 here as it begins to taper off. Prefer that spread out a bit more. Hope no one is terribly inconvenienced. Fog is setting in.

5.51” total here. Don’t remember forecasts being quite that high. Upslope enhancement never fails along the southern escarpment. Now if we could just get a synoptic snow setup with some southerly flow.

1.56 inches here. Still quite a bit over forecast but nothing compared to what you guys a bit further west got.

Wow! That is freaking some rainfall for 24 to 36 hours.

And over 4.5 of that is just from midnight to around 2 when it started to clear. Lots of flash flooding.

I’m going to wait until Tuesday/Wednesday to make up my mind.  I love snow in my backyard but if McDowell is fringe at best… I might just book a cabin in Banner Elk and have some fun.

Over night runs still lead me to think options are on the table. The official WPC guidance has one day that is mentioned on Friday  for the northern mountains. Like WNC-fort said, by early to mid week we should know. But looking like a cake job to our west in the mountains right now.

Looks like a safe bet. Hopefully it won't trend more north, that will even cut snow totals up there.
