I’ve been getting the first thunderstorm since Sunday (8/17) since ~6:45PM in a band coming eastward that had collided with the sea-breeze front. Rain rates have been mainly moderate but with some heavy.

Before this rain, I had already been up to a whopping 14.4” MTD!

Light rain is still falling. I’ve gotten ~0.25” today so far. That gives me ~14.65” MTD. It may be ending shortly.

After light rain earlier this evening, heavier rain has developed here.

After that re-drenching ~2” that fell yesterday evening, I’ve had as of 11PM only some on and off largely light rain since early this morning amounting to <0.1” here despite some nearby areas having heavier rains. That gets me to a ridiculous ~16.7” MTD! The mosquitos have been constantly partying this month like it was 1999.
We’ll see how the rest of the night goes.

High of 80.6 and very low humidity. What sort of sacrifice did y’all make to the weather gods? This is becoming a historic august

And this is before the Big Beautiful Front comes through tomorrow! This morning, GSO is at 64 with a 62 dewpoint, after a high of 79 yesterday. This is going to be a wonderful last week of August!

We obviously still have a good deal of surplus rain from July into the first week in August in Greensboro. However, with about a third of an inch of rain since the 9th, and entering what appears to be a stable period of dry weather and low dewpoints, we may get some minor drought conditions. No big deal, but it's just crazy how we get stuck in these persistent patterns this year.

IDK if the ‘danger’ has passed but we made it up to 89.1 (highest this month) and have since fallen to around 86

It got back up to around 89 after I posted this but 89.1 was the max! We did not break 90 and we look locked in to stay below it the entire month, WOW! Currently 86 with relatively low humidity again, dewpoint 62

Did somewhere in GA reach the record monthly low?

I just researched this further. This is the source for the “monthly record low”:

https://coolwx.com/record/

According to it, PDK (not ATL), which coolwx also calls “Atlanta”, did actually have an unofficial monthly record low this morning with its 55 as that broke its monthly record low of 55.4 (2004). But these PDK records go back only 44 years (1981 or 1982).

To compare, KATL had a 56 on 8/14/2004. So, the KPDK 55 in August of 2004 does jibe well with the KATL official 56 then.

KPDK
Atlanta, GA United States
55.0
59.0 55.4 -5.8
(2013) (2004) (1985)
-4.0
44
KPDK

It’s not an official KATL monthly record low, which is 55 (1992 and 1986). Their low this morning was 60 vs daily record low of 57.

Per this, PDK (same as Chamblee) actually got down to 54 for the low:

CHAMBLEE CLEAR 57 52 83 N3 30.22R TC 14
6HR MIN TEMP: 54

First 50’s of the season! Well it’s not even close to fall and we have 50’s anyway! 58.6 this morning and honestly could’ve used a light jacket taking the kids to school

Keep in mind that the lowest August temp since 2001 in RDU, GSO, ATL, and most major stations in TN/NC/SC/GA and some in AL was in early to mid August of 2004. The next month had 2  bad hurricanes hit the FL E coast and 3 in total in addition to Charley in that same August.
